While Marvel's live-action TV lineup is shifting—with Daredevil: Born Again wrapping up after season 3 and VisionQuest closing out the WandaVision trilogy—animation remains a strong pillar. Shows like X-Men '97 are locked into yearly releases, and Marvel Zombies is set to become a Halloween tradition. Now, the animated web-slinger is joining that fast-paced trend.
After a nearly two-year wait, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is finally returning for season 2 in January. The first season, which reimagined Peter Parker's early days under the mentorship of Norman Osborn instead of Tony Stark, was a hit with both fans and critics. Now, series creator Jeff Trammell is already looking ahead—way ahead.
At New York Comic Con, Collider's Maggie Lovitt caught up with Trammell to ask how far along he is on future episodes. His answer was a pleasant surprise: "I don't know what I can say, and no one's stopping me, so I'm gonna say we're already working on Seasons 3 and 4 of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man." That's right—while Marvel hasn't officially announced a renewal beyond season 3, the creative team is already deep into developing the next two installments.
This news means fans can expect a much shorter gap between seasons. The first season laid a solid foundation, introducing a world that blends MCU elements with classic Spider-Man comic lore. With that groundwork done, Trammell and his team have the freedom to explore new storylines and characters without starting from scratch.
What's Coming in Season 2?
Season 1 ended with several tantalizing threads, and the season 2 poster makes it clear that Venom is taking center stage. A piece of the symbiote was left behind after a battle with Doctor Strange, setting up Peter's iconic black suit and the eventual arrival of Eddie Brock, voiced by Spider-Man veteran Josh Keaton. But that's not all—the finale revealed that Peter's father, Richard, is actually alive and in prison, a twist that will surely have major repercussions.
Charlie Cox's Daredevil is also set to return, and Gwen Stacy will make her debut as Spider-Gwen, adding new allies to the fight. Trammell is particularly excited about a few characters: "I'm really excited for people to see more from Nico Minoru this season. She's a big part of Season 2, and I think people are really going to dig what we're doing with her. Eddie Brock, I'm a huge Eddie Brock fan. It was announced Josh Keaton is playing Eddie Brock, so I'm excited for people to see what he's doing, as well as... Norman's up to some stuff that I'm really excited about as well."
With seasons 3 and 4 already in the works, it looks like this friendly neighborhood Spider-Man will be swinging around for quite a while.
