Get ready to rock with the undead. AMC's Interview with the Vampire is returning for a third season, and this time, the spotlight is firmly on the flamboyant vampire Lestat de Lioncourt, played by Sam Reid. As part of Collider's Summer Preview series, we've got an exclusive first look at a brand-new song from Lestat's growing discography—a track that promises to be as bloody and theatrical as the vampire rockstar himself.
This latest single is one of 20 original songs composed by series composer Daniel Hart and performed by Reid for the musically driven season. Unlike the previously released glam-rock anthem "Long Face" and the season's opening theme "All Fall Down," this new cut leans into a more modern sound, showcasing Lestat's evolution as an artist. The accompanying teaser video amps up the drama, hinting at a stage takeover that leaves plenty of bodies in its wake—a perfect blend of Bowie-esque showmanship and vampire violence.
The season, now titled The Vampire Lestat, adapts Anne Rice's 1985 sequel novel of the same name. This time, Lestat takes the storytelling reins from his former lover Louis de Pointe du Lac (Jacob Anderson), recounting his "truth" to journalist Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian). The narrative follows Lestat on a multi-city tour as his band's popularity skyrockets, drawing both adoring fans and dangerous enemies from the vampire world. His past muses haunt him, and the fallout from the Great Conversion—which artificially boosted vampire numbers—forces him to confront his own actions.
In an interview with Collider, series creator Rolin Jones warned fans to expect "whiplash" from the shift in tone. "It's going to be on the back of Lestat living like Lestat, embracing like Lestat. It'll be contradictory and hallucinogenic and strange and wild," he said. Returning cast members include Assad Zaman, Delainey Hayles, and Jennifer Ehle, while newcomers Sheila Atim, Noah Reid, Ryan Kattner, Seamus Patterson, and Sarah Swire join the blood-soaked fun.
For Sam Reid, learning to perform the songs before even reading the scripts was a unique challenge. "Getting music before getting a script is a real mind-bleep," he admitted. "I kept asking, 'Where did this come from? Why is he doing this?' But as the context came in, the songs opened up. Daniel Hart writes gigantic, mega songs. It's been a big change, but super fun." Hart and Jones worked closely to weave the music into the story, with Hart even co-writing an episode.
Fans lucky enough to snag tickets to The Vampire Lestat: One Night Only – LIVE will get to hear some of these tracks performed in person before the season airs. The season premieres on AMC and AMC+ on June 7. In the meantime, you can stream Lestat's official artist page on Spotify, Apple Music, and other platforms as new songs drop throughout the season.
