Sam Raimi's legendary horror-fantasy franchise is back with a vengeance. The first teaser for Evil Dead Burn has dropped, and it's already being hailed as the most savage and terrifying entry yet. Directed and co-written by Sébastien Vaniček, this standalone film is set to scorch theaters on July 24, 2026.
The Evil Dead saga began in 1979 when Raimi unleashed a supernatural nightmare that would spawn a cult-favorite trilogy from 1981 to 1992. Since then, the universe has expanded into films, TV shows, graphic novels, musicals, and video games. While Raimi only directed the first three installments, he has remained involved as a producer or executive producer on later entries, including this one.
Evil Dead Burn marks the sixth film in the franchise and the third standalone entry, following 2013's Evil Dead and 2023's Evil Dead Rise. The story follows a woman grieving the loss of her husband as she joins her in-laws at their secluded family home. But when Kandarian demons take over, her relatives begin transforming into Deadites, turning what was meant to be a healing retreat into a family reunion from hell.
The cast includes Souheila Yacoub (Dune: Part Two), Tandi Wright (Pearl), Hunter Doohan (Daredevil: Born Again), and Luciane Buchanan (The Night Agent). Raimi produces alongside longtime collaborator Rob Tapert.
If the teaser is any indication, Evil Dead Burn will deliver unexpected scares and relentless horror. For fans who love bone-chilling final shots, this film promises to be a standout.
But the franchise isn't stopping there. Another new entry, Evil Dead Wrath, is already in production. Directed by Francis Galluppi (The Last Stop in Yuma County), it began filming earlier this year and features Charlotte Hope (Game of Thrones), Jessica McNamee (Mortal Kombat), Zach Gilford (Midnight Mass), and Josh Helman (X-Men: Days of Future Past). Evil Dead Wrath is scheduled for release on April 7, 2028.
As the franchise continues to evolve, it joins the ranks of sci-fi franchises you can't quit, proving that horror can be just as enduring. For those who appreciate vintage horror series that only get better with time, the Evil Dead saga remains a must-watch.
Mark your calendars: Evil Dead Burn hits theaters July 24, 2026. Watch the vicious teaser above and prepare for a family reunion like no other.
