As Halloween weekend approaches, streaming platforms are stepping up to provide the perfect entertainment for those cozy nights in. With theaters offering few new releases, Prime Video has emerged as a top destination for movie lovers. This weekend, three standout films—each from a different genre—are ready to keep you glued to your screen. Whether you're in the mood for spine-tingling horror, adrenaline-pumping action, or side-splitting comedy, Prime Video has something for everyone.
Hereditary: A Modern Horror Masterpiece
If you're looking to embrace the Halloween spirit, Ari Aster's Hereditary is an absolute must-watch. Widely regarded as one of the most terrifying films of the 21st century, it follows a family unraveling after a tragic loss, only to be haunted by a sinister supernatural force. Toni Collette delivers a career-defining performance that many believe was unfairly overlooked during awards season. With its relentless tension and a finale that will haunt your dreams, Hereditary is the ultimate Halloween night companion. John Wick: Action Perfected
If horror isn't your thing, why not dive into the high-octane world of John Wick? Keanu Reeves stars as a retired hitman who unleashes hell after his home is invaded and his beloved dog is killed. Directed by Chad Stahelski, this 2014 film launched a massively successful franchise and remains a fan favorite. With its stylish action sequences and a stellar supporting cast—including Willem Dafoe, Ian McShane, and Michael Nyqvist—John Wick is a thrill ride from start to finish. It's the perfect choice for anyone craving intense, beautifully choreographed violence.
Bridesmaids: A Comedy Classic
For those who prefer laughs over scares, Bridesmaids is the answer. This 2011 hit comedy boasts an incredible ensemble led by Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph, with Melissa McCarthy delivering a scene-stealing performance that earned her an Oscar nomination. The film hilariously captures the chaos of friendship, rivalry, and wedding planning. It's also a fitting tribute to the late Richard Riehle, a beloved character actor who passed away earlier this month at 78. Bridesmaids remains one of the funniest and most rewatchable comedies of the century. If you love a good laugh, don't miss our roundup of comedy movies you'll never get tired of rewatching.
Why These Three Films?
Each of these movies represents the best of its genre. Hereditary is a masterclass in psychological horror, John Wick redefined modern action cinema, and Bridesmaids proved that women can headline raunchy, hilarious comedies. Together, they offer a perfect weekend marathon for any mood. Plus, with Halloween on Saturday, there's no better time to indulge in a scary movie—or to take a break from the frights with some action or comedy.
