Middle-earth has seen its share of legendary weapons, but none carry the weight—or the terror—of the One Ring. It's small enough to slip into a pocket, yet it holds the power to unravel the world. For decades, fans have debated who could resist its pull, quoted its ominous inscription, and maybe even bought a replica or two. But there's something uniquely chilling about witnessing the moment before Sauron's greatest weapon is forged, when the chance to stop him still exists.
That window is closing fast as The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power hurtles toward its third season. The fall of Eregion has tilted the scales in the Dark Lord's favor, and the free peoples of Middle-earth are scrambling to survive. While they struggle to hold their ground, Sauron is crafting something that could make their resistance utterly futile.
Collider has an exclusive first look at a new featurette for The Rings of Power Season 3, premiering November 11 on Prime Video. The behind-the-scenes piece brings together cast members Simon Pegg, Jamie Campbell Bower, Robert Aramayo, Morfydd Clark, Charlie Vickers, and Ciarán Hinds, along with never-before-seen footage, to explore the One Ring's cultural impact and its long-awaited creation within the series. Fans already know the ring's eventual fate, but this season takes them inside the forging of the object that will define Middle-earth's future.
What Is 'The Rings of Power' Season 3 About?
The featurette sets the stage for a season where Sauron edges closer to victory while Elves, Dwarves, Númenoreans, and others face his advancing forces. Unity among these peoples is more critical than ever, even as their own homes and futures hang in the balance. With the One Ring's forging on the horizon, the series is approaching one of the most pivotal moments in Tolkien's Second Age.
Season 3 picks up five years after the fall of Eregion. Sauron's armies have conquered much of Middle-earth, the Dwarves remain sealed inside Khazad-dûm, and only Lindon and Rivendell stand protected by the Three Rings. These last strongholds are all that separate Sauron from total domination, giving him every reason to complete the weapon he believes will crush all resistance. Deep in Mordor, Sauron works within his newly finished tower of Barad-dûr, obsessed with gaining the power to control all life. The free peoples must find a way to unite before it's too late. For viewers who've watched the ring's devastating legacy unfold in The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, its arrival here adds an ominous deadline to the conflict.
The first two seasons of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power are streaming now on Prime Video. The eight-episode third season will roll out over three weeks, starting with four episodes on November 11. Episodes 5 and 6 drop November 18, with the final two episodes arriving November 25.
