If you're craving a fresh hockey romance to binge, Prime Video's Off Campus is your new obsession. Based on Elle Kennedy's beloved novel series, Season 1 just dropped, and it's already scoring big with fans. Set at fictional Briar University, the show follows four star hockey players—Garrett Graham (Belmont Cameli), John Logan (Antonio Cipriano), Dean Di Lauretis (Stephen Kalyn), and John Tucker (Jalen Thomas Brooks)—who are as dominant on the ice as they are popular on campus.

We caught up with Cipriano, Kalyn, and Brooks to dive into the making of the series, from grueling hockey training to those infamous shirtless scenes. The trio also opened up about the jaw-dropping Season 1 finale twist that redefines Dean's storyline and teases what's ahead for Logan in Season 2.

The 10 Best HBO Shows of the Last Decade, Ranked
HBO's last decade delivered daring, introspective shows that linger long after the credits. Here are the 10 best, ranked by their unique storytelling and influence.

From Ice Rookies to On-Screen Pros

For Kalyn, who grew up playing hockey in Toronto, stepping onto the set felt like coming home. But for Brooks and Cipriano, the sport was a whole new world. “They were terrible at first,” Kalyn joked, before quickly backtracking. “Okay, they weren't horrible.” Brooks and Cipriano laughed, admitting they were indeed rough around the edges. The cast underwent a two-week boot camp led by former Vancouver Canuck Hall of Famer Dave Tomlinson. “Shout out to Dave!” Brooks said. “He turned us into believable players.”

The Secret Behind Those Shirtless Scenes

With a show centered on college athletes, shirtless moments are inevitable. Kalyn, whose character Dean seems to constantly lose his shirt, revealed that staying active is part of his routine. But he also gave credit to the makeup team. “They do a great job giving us all a six-pack,” he said with a laugh. Brooks chimed in, “I didn't know about the shading and coloring until I saw it on camera. I was like, ‘Whoa! I look like that?’”

Dean's Surprising Storyline and the Finale Twist

While Season 1 primarily focuses on Garrett and Hannah's romance, Dean's subplot with Allie (Mika Abdalla) takes an unexpected turn in the finale. “I was so excited to explore that B-plotline,” Kalyn said. “It's a nice little breather to jump into something different.” The episode, aptly titled “The Breakaway,” shifts focus to Dean and Allie just as Hunter (Charlie Evans) enters the picture, setting up a love triangle that promises drama in Season 2. “That twist really changes everything for Dean,” Kalyn teased.

For fans wondering what's next, Cipriano hinted that Season 2 will center on Logan's story. “Logan's arc is going to be huge,” he said. “We're just scratching the surface.” Meanwhile, Brooks, who also stars in The Pitt as Mateo, compared the physical demands of hockey to a shift in the ER. “Playing hockey is tough, but a full shift in The Pitt is a different kind of endurance,” he said.
