Nick Offerman has built a career on memorable roles, from the deadpan Ron Swanson on Parks and Rec to his Emmy-winning turn in The Last of Us. But in Apple TV+'s Margo's Got Money Troubles, he delivers something even more nuanced: Jinx, a former pro wrestler and deeply flawed but lovable father to Elle Fanning's Margo. It's a role that lets Offerman showcase a range we haven't seen before.
Thaddea Graham, meanwhile, is a rising star who's already made waves in Sex Education and Doctor Who. As Susie, Margo's quirky yet grounded roommate, she brings warmth and whimsy to the show, forming an unexpected found family with Margo and Jinx.
In a recent interview, Offerman and Graham opened up about the grueling process of filming Episode 7's overdose scene, where Margo and Susie discover Jinx unconscious in a bathtub. It's a moment that required meticulous planning from every department.
The Overdose Scene: A Team Effort
Graham explained that the scene demanded extensive prep work. "There's so much thought and preparation that goes into it that I don't think people maybe initially realized," she said. The production team went to great lengths to ensure safety, including building a rubber bathtub and padding the tiles to protect the actors.
Offerman added, "It's a classic formed bathtub that we've all seen that has a porcelain finish — they made that out of rubber for our comfort." The crew also constructed a separate tub for an underwater shot, allowing for safe and creative camera work. "We flood the bathroom every single time, and they've got to bring in this huge hoover that vacuums up all the water," Graham noted. "It's just an incredible team effort."
Jinx's Guilt and Margo's Truth
The episode's tension doesn't let up after the overdose. A home inspection scene finds Margo telling Jinx she has nothing to hide and can't deal with him anymore. Offerman reflected on Jinx's reaction: "I feel like that's part of Jinx's strength — that he's able to take the truth on board. He doesn't like to hear it, but he doesn't disbelieve it." This honesty, Offerman says, is what drives Jinx's mistakes throughout the series.

Susie's Found Family and Favorite Costume
Graham also touched on Susie's growing bond with Margo and Jinx, as well as her connection with other characters like Rose and KC. "I think craft sees craft," she said. "When they give her a compliment, I think she's like, 'Oh wow — that lands different from you.'" She hopes to explore that dynamic further in a potential Season 2.
When asked about her favorite costume, Graham didn't hesitate: "It has to be Shadowheart — or Shadowhat, as Jinx likes to say." The cosplay elements of the show, she says, are "fantastic" and "so rich."
As for what's next, both actors are eager to see where the story goes. With the show's blend of heart, humor, and high stakes, fans are already buzzing about a second season.
