Potter, whose character famously died off-screen before the TV series began in 2015, revealed a hilarious behind-the-scenes story about how the studio once pitched his return—as a ghost.
“Well, because I was under contract with Heartland, which was the right move… but I must tell you a humorous story, because after year one of this series, my agent called and said, ‘They're interested in you coming back to the Good Witch.’ I said, ‘Well, I'm dead.’ And she said, ‘As a ghost.’ And I said, ‘You mean like Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore? We're gonna be making pottery together, or do I just stand in the corner of the bedroom all the time?’ So I said, ‘No, I'm not interested.’”
Potter's initial refusal was a playful jab at the idea, but now he's warming up to the possibility. During the same panel, he teased, “Hey, if Good Witch ever comes back, maybe we can have that ghost come back at a later time. Never say never.” That's a far cry from his earlier stance, and fans are taking notice.
Bell, for her part, has been vocal about her desire to revisit the character that made her a household name. Earlier this year, she and co-stars Katherine Barrell and Kyana Teresa admitted they've “been begging” to return. At the panel, when an audience member asked about the series finale's romantic pairings—specifically why Stephanie ended up with Adam instead of Abigail with Donovan—Bell offered a tantalizing hint: “We’re hoping to bring back a movie at some point soon, and we’re hoping to take it back to the original ways that Good Witch started. But, I think those are just network decisions, and I couldn’t answer that.”
The prospect of a Good Witch reboot movie has been a hot topic among fans for years, and with Bell and Potter now publicly on board, the pressure is on Hallmark to make it happen.
