MobLand has returned to Paramount+ with a bang, and the Guy Ritchie-helmed series is already pushing its characters to the brink. The Season 2 premiere throws the Harrigan family into chaos as old wounds fester and new threats loom. At the center of it all is Harry Da Souza (Tom Hardy), trying to hold the pieces together while his marriage to Jan (Joanne Froggatt) crumbles and his loyalty to the family is put under a microscope.
The episode kicks off with Conrad (Pierce Brosnan) making a brutal move, eliminating a group of gangsters after a deal goes sideways. Harry is left to clean up the mess, but the real fallout happens in a therapy session with Jan. She's had enough, and she hands Harry divorce papers, declaring it's too late to save their marriage. It's a gut punch that sets the tone for a season where every Harrigan is at odds with each other.
In an exclusive chat with Collider, Hardy and Froggatt opened up about this pivotal moment and what it means for their characters. Froggatt revealed that Jan's decision isn't about giving up on Harry entirely. "I don't think she's ever really fully left him," she said. "They have this bond that goes beyond romance. They share a history, a child, and secrets that tie them together forever." Froggatt explained that Jan would welcome Harry back in a heartbeat if he chose to walk away from the Harrigans, but she's also reached a breaking point where she can't keep waiting for that to happen.
For Hardy, Harry's loyalty is a complex beast. "I've never really seen him as blindly loyal," he said. "He's loyal to Jan, to Gina, to himself, and to Conrad in his own way. But that loyalty is to an internal code, not just to one person." Hardy hinted that Harry's allegiance could shift if the circumstances changed, especially as Conrad's behavior becomes more erratic. "I don't think we really know how loyal he is or where his true loyalties lie," he added, teasing that there's more to Harry than meets the eye.
The premiere also introduces a new wrinkle: Gina (Teddie Allen), the Da Souzas' daughter, is getting involved with Eddie (Anson Boon) and a new side of the family business. Froggatt noted that Jan is deeply worried about Gina following in her parents' footsteps, even as she takes responsibility for the life they've shown her. "Jan is a mother first," Froggatt said. "She's terrified of Gina getting pulled into this world, but she also knows it's partly her fault."
As the season unfolds, the Da Souzas are navigating a delicate balance between their criminal empire and their personal lives. Hardy and Froggatt both emphasized that despite the heightened stakes, the family dynamics remain relatable. "They're a normal family in an abnormal world," Froggatt said. "The emotions are real, even if the circumstances aren't."
