With only two episodes left in MobLand's second season, the tension is at an all-time high. The Harrigan family is tearing itself apart from within, while external threats loom from every side. Conrad (Pierce Brosnan) is slipping mentally, Harry (Tom Hardy) is barely holding things together, and Maeve (Helen Mirren) is playing a dangerous game with Eddie (Anson Boon) and Gina (Teddie Allen). Meanwhile, the revelation of Archie's (Alex Jennings) body and Mad Dog's (Colin Morgan) thirst for revenge have thrown the family into chaos. In the midst of all this, Eddie is on the verge of a complete breakdown—and possibly a monstrous transformation.
In a recent interview, Boon opened up about Eddie's state of mind in Episode 8, "We Don't Talk Anymore," and what drives him forward. The episode sees Eddie at his absolute lowest, reeling from Maeve's betrayal and Gina's rejection. But it's Conrad's unexpected moment of paternal advice that gives Eddie a glimmer of purpose. "It's not about where you've come from; it's about what you do next," Conrad tells him, and that line seems to ignite something in Eddie.
Eddie's Lowest Point
Boon describes Eddie's journey in Episode 8 as hitting rock bottom. "He's got nothing to lose," Boon says. "Gina's not talking to him, Maeve has turned on him, and he's been publicly humiliated." The scene where Maeve forces Eddie to his knees and records him begging is particularly brutal, and Boon admits it's a pivotal moment. "She's always a step ahead," he notes, "and she twists everything to make him look like the aggressor."
But it's the quiet rejection from Gina that truly breaks Eddie. Boon reveals a secret he's never shared before: "I think he was going to admit to her that he was wrong about Maeve and that Gina was right. He might not have said 'sorry'—that's not a word the Harrigans use—but he was going to try." Instead, Gina slams the door in his face, leaving Eddie standing alone at the end of the pier, tears streaming down his face.
A Monster in the Making
Boon hints that this emotional devastation is exactly what sets Eddie on a darker path. "When you have nothing left to lose, you become dangerous," he says. The actor teases that Eddie's choices in the final episodes will shock audiences, and he may even be the mole that Tattersall (Toby Jones) warned about. "Eddie has been underestimated his whole life," Boon explains. "But now, he's ready to show everyone what he's capable of."
As the season hurtles toward its conclusion, fans are bracing for Eddie's transformation. Will he become the monster Maeve always feared, or will he find a way to rise above the chaos? One thing's for sure: the Harrigan family will never be the same.
