It's been four decades since Sarah first wished her baby brother away, and the world of Labyrinth still casts a spell that makes getting lost in a goblin-filled maze look oddly appealing. Jim Henson's fantasy classic gave us Jennifer Connelly's determined heroine, a menagerie of unforgettable creatures, and David Bowie's Goblin King, who made a very strong case for letting the villain own every musical number. Fans have never stopped wanting to revisit that world, whether their heart belongs to the gentle giant Ludo or the tiny worm who offers unsolicited advice.
That universe is practically begging for a tabletop adventure, especially when its rules already involve stolen time, misleading doors, and gifts you probably shouldn't accept. Sarah's journey offers endless possibilities beyond another showdown with the Goblin King. Sometimes, the most valuable member of your party is a very small knight with more confidence than sense.
Wizards of the Coast has announced its Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair: Corn Maze Superdrop, a collection that includes three separate drops inspired by Labyrinth. The full lineup, releasing October 12 at 9 a.m. PT, also features KPop Demon Hunters, Marvel Zombies, and three artist showcase collections. Each drop costs $29.99 for the Non-Foil edition or $39.99 for the Traditional Foil edition, while supplies last.
What's in the Corn Maze Superdrop?
The Labyrinth drops split the movie into its companions, its villain, and the maze itself. Should You Need Us brings Sarah, Ludo, Hoggle, The Wiseman, The Worm, and Sir Didymus to the table. Fear Me, Love Me gives Jareth his own collection, featuring cards inspired by goblins, Toby's kidnapping, and the Goblin King's gifts. Collectors will love that the artwork on Sarah, Champion to the Lost and Jareth, Goblin King connects to form a scene across the two cards. The third drop, Through the Labyrinth, includes the Fireys, the Cleaners, the Shaft of Hands, and the film's famously unhelpful doors.
Meanwhile, KPop Demon Hunters: How It's Done brings music, friendship, and demon fighting to seven cards, including Swan Song, Demonic Counsel, and Underworld Breach. Wizards teases that this might not be the last we see of HUNTR/X and the Saja Boys, though no specifics were given. Marvel: Zombies takes a hungrier approach, featuring zombie versions of Thor, Captain America, Scarlet Witch, and Giant-Man.
The remaining collections give Magic's own creatures and locations a fresh look. Artist Series: Veronique Meignaud focuses on sacrifice and transformation, Manufactured Grounds by See Machine gives five Mirrodin artifact lands stark industrial artwork, and Peace, Love, & Treefolk features Ashley Dreyfus's colorful designs and custom frames. There's also an incentive for big spenders: fans will receive an exclusive foil Maze of Ith, presented as The Labyrinth, for every $199 spent, while supplies last.
The Corn Maze Superdrop goes on sale October 12 through Magic's Secret Lair website. If you're a fan of fantasy shows that nailed it or science fantasy books, this crossover is a must-see. And for those who love epic fantasy adaptations, this drop is a perfect addition to your collection.
