Taylor Sheridan doesn't do quiet. Even his more introspective projects find a way to blow something up. So it's no surprise that the first teaser for Lioness Season 3 arrives with plenty of heat, setting the stage for what looks like the messiest chapter yet for CIA operative Joe McNamara.
Paramount+ has officially released the teaser trailer for the upcoming season, which will premiere on Sunday, August 2. The global espionage thriller, created by Sheridan, follows Joe McNamara (Zoe Saldaña) as she leads the agency's Lioness program—an initiative that embeds female operatives deep inside dangerous networks to dismantle terrorist and criminal organizations.
According to the official synopsis, Season 3 finds Joe navigating a world where hidden networks, foreign operatives, and personal betrayals collide. She walks a tightrope between duty and home as unseen forces close in. Patterns emerge where they shouldn't, names disappear, and paths shift. Guided by Kaitlyn (Nicole Kidman) and Westfield (Michael Kelly), Joe confronts enemies operating in the shadows, forcing her to reckon with a war that now touches every part of her life.
This series has been one of Sheridan's most consistent performers on Paramount+. The first season premiere drew nearly 6 million viewers globally across Paramount+ and delayed viewing on Paramount Network, making it the streamer's most-watched worldwide series premiere on launch day at the time. Season 2 kept the momentum going, with its premiere reaching 3 million views in its first seven days and becoming one of Paramount+’s biggest domestic original premieres. Another report put the Season 2 premiere at 12.4 million global viewers across all platforms.
The cast for Season 3 is stacked. Alongside Saldaña, Nicole Kidman returns as Kaitlyn Meade, Morgan Freeman plays Edwin Mullins, Michael Kelly is Byron Westfield, and Laysla De Oliveira reprises her role as Cruz. Yellowstone alums Dave Annable and Ian Bohen also join the ensemble.
Sheridan executive produces alongside David C. Glasser, Saldaña, Kidman, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Michael Friedman, Wagner, David Lemanowicz, Geyer Kosinski, and Keith Cox. The series is produced by Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios.
If you haven't caught up yet, Seasons 1 and 2 are streaming now on Paramount+. For those who love high-stakes action, Prime Video's 'Bang' might also scratch that itch while you wait. Season 3 of Lioness premieres August 2.
