Fans of the sprawling Dune universe, get ready for more political intrigue and galactic power plays. Dune: Prophecy, the HBO prequel series set 10,000 years before the events of Frank Herbert's novels, is returning for a second season, and star Josh Heuston is promising an experience that's even more epic than the first.
In an exclusive interview with Collider, Heuston—who plays the complex Constantine Corrino—shared some tantalizing details about what's to come. The actor, who also stars in Prime Video's new romance series Off Campus, described the sophomore season as a significant step up in every way. “It's just bigger and better, I guess. Everything's on a bigger scale,” Heuston said. “We filmed in three different countries, which is fun. It’s a lot of similar characters, but I think everything is just on a much grander scale, from the fights to the storylines to everyone trying to undercut each other. It's a wild ride. It's fun.”
For those who need a refresher, Dune: Prophecy delves into the shadowy origins of the Bene Gesserit, the all-powerful matriarchal sisterhood that plays a pivotal role in the original Dune saga. The series centers on Valya Harkonnen (Emily Watson) and her sister Tula (Olivia Williams), who are both members of the infamous Harkonnen family—a name that will later become synonymous with cruelty and ambition. The first season explored the terrible sacrifices the sisters made to gain control of the sisterhood and the dark secrets they keep to maintain their grip on the galaxy.
Heuston's character, Constantine Corrino, is the illegitimate son of Emperor Javicco Corrino (Mark Strong). Despite his penchant for indulgence, Constantine is fiercely protective of his half-sister, Princess Ynez (Sarah-Sofie Boussnina). This loyalty is precisely why the Bene Gesserit orchestrated his birth. Having survived the cataclysmic events of the Season 1 finale, Constantine will return in Season 2, and Heuston hints that his journey will be even more intense.
While fans eagerly await the new season, Heuston is also making waves in the romance genre. He stars in Off Campus, a Prime Video series based on the popular novels by Elle Kennedy. The show follows Garrett Graham (Belmont Cameli), a star hockey player, and Hannah Wells (Ella Bright), a philosophy student. When Garrett discovers Hannah has a crush on the clueless jock Justin Kohl (played by Heuston), he proposes a fake relationship to make Justin jealous—only for their pretend romance to turn real. The series premiered on May 13 and has already been renewed for a second season.
