Hot on the heels of his breakout role in the international sensation Heated Rivalry, Hudson Williams is diving into a new mystery thriller series that promises to keep viewers on the edge of their seats. The actor has been tapped to headline Yaga, a gripping new show that has been officially acquired by AMC+ for US streaming before the end of 2026.
Yaga is based on the acclaimed play by Kat Sandler, who also wrote the teleplay and serves as showrunner. The series follows Rapp (Noah Reid), a private investigator who arrives in a small coastal town to investigate the disappearance of a young heir to a powerful fishery, Henry Park (played by Williams). As Rapp digs deeper, he clashes with a wary local detective (Clark Backo), a charismatic university professor with a taste for younger men (Carrie-Anne Moss), and a web of enigmatic suspects, secret lives, and ancient magic.
Williams joins an impressive ensemble cast that includes Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix, The Acolyte), Noah Reid (Schitt's Creek), and Clark Backo (Letterkenny). Moss also serves as an executive producer on the series. Other cast members include Sheila McCarthy, Megan Follows, Ezra Franky, Patrick Gilmore, Katharine Isabelle, Hiro Kanagawa, Emilija Baranac, Georgia Acken, Anisa Harris, and Sam Krochmal.
Courtney Thomasma, EVP of Linear and Streaming Products at AMC, described Yaga as “the kind of bold, genre-bending storytelling that we look for on AMC+ to complement our core franchises and super-serve our passionate and discerning fan base.” The show is expected to appeal to fans of psychological thrillers and mystery dramas.
Williams has been on a hot streak since Heated Rivalry became a global phenomenon. The hockey drama, which also stars Connor Storrie, smashed streaming records on HBO Max and remains a top-10 fixture in several countries. The show has been renewed for a second season, set to begin production this summer and air next year. In addition to Yaga, Williams was recently announced as part of the cast for Prime Video's thriller Tyrants, alongside Paapa Essiedu, Charlize Theron, Julia Garner, and Demi Moore.
While an exact premiere date for Yaga has not been announced, AMC has confirmed it will arrive on AMC+ before 2027. Fans of Williams and the mystery thriller genre won't have to wait long to see this intriguing new series, which blends small-town secrets with supernatural elements.
