The Defenders are officially reassembling for one last hurrah in Daredevil: Born Again Season 3, but star Finn Jones is already looking beyond the finale. In a new interview, the Iron Fist actor suggested that the end of the Man Without Fear's latest chapter could pave the way for a long-awaited Heroes for Hire series.

Speaking with Collider at New York Comic Con, Jones addressed the surprise announcement that Born Again would conclude with its third season. Rather than mourn the end, he sees it as an opportunity. "What cancelling Daredevil may do is open up for a different kind of show, maybe with all of us in," Jones said. "I personally would love to see Heroes for Hire. Just gonna pitch that right now. I love working with Mike."

5 Sitcoms from the 2000s That Were Too Weird to Survive
Cavemen, The Pitts, and The Knights of Prosperity are among the bizarre, forgotten 2000s sitcoms that were simply too strange to last very long.

The "Mike" in question is Mike Colter, who played Luke Cage in the Netflix Marvel universe and will reunite with Jones in Season 3. The two characters share a rich comic-book history as the titular duo of Heroes for Hire, a partnership fans have clamored to see on screen for years. With Charlie Cox's Daredevil and Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones also confirmed to appear, the stage is set for a full-scale Defenders reunion—the first time these heroes have shared the screen in nearly a decade.

Jones acknowledged that bringing these characters back depends on viewer demand. "The fans have to tune in, it's a viewership thing," he explained. "If the eyeballs are there, then the stories get told. I know everyone loves these characters and loves the world that we work in, and we would love to continue to create more stories."

For Jones, the return to Danny Rand also offers a chance to redefine the character. The actor admitted that Iron Fist's initial reception was less than warm, but he's embracing a more mature take in Season 3. "From a character perspective, he was a hothead; he wasn't attuned with his powers," Jones said. "But this time round I'm able to really dig into a much more grounded, wiser, and powerful character. I think I've done a bit of growth along the way as well, so it's a beautiful thing."

That growth could be crucial if Heroes for Hire becomes a reality. The series would likely pair Danny and Luke as a crime-fighting duo for hire, blending street-level action with their signature banter. It's a concept that has been floated by fans since the Netflix days, and Jones's comments suggest the cast is just as eager.

While Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 is expected to debut in 2027, the future of these characters remains uncertain. But if Jones has his way, the finale won't be a goodbye—it'll be a new beginning. For now, fans can catch the full interview with Collider, and keep their fingers crossed that the Defenders' story continues.
