Star Trek fans, get ready to set phasers to excited. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4 is beaming onto Paramount+ this month, and we've got an exclusive first look at the episode titles—each one a little Easter egg for Trekkies and pop culture lovers alike. The titles are revealed on a set of retro-styled trading cards, a loving tribute to the colorful merchandise of the 1960s, when the original series first launched. And with the franchise celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2026, the throwback vibe couldn't be more fitting.
The season, which premieres on July 23, promises a wild ride: cowboys, dinosaurs, and even puppets have been teased. But now we know exactly where the USS Enterprise is headed. The episode titles, in order, are: "Valles Marineris," "The Griffin Incident," "Human Best Friend," "A Case of Chiaroscuro," "Level-Five Transporter Accident," "Off-Hour," "Like Chronitons Through the Hourglass," "Orders of Magnitude," "Once La'An a Time," and the season finale, "Tomorrow's Enterprise."
What Do the 'Strange New Worlds' Season 4 Episode Titles Mean?
Some titles are clear nods to Star Trek lore. The finale, "Tomorrow's Enterprise," echoes the classic The Next Generation episode "Yesterday's Enterprise"—a fan-favorite time-travel story where Picard's crew helps a doomed predecessor save the Federation. "Level-Five Transporter Accident" winks at the iconic transporter mishaps that have split characters into good and evil halves, fused them together, or, as in Star Trek: The Motion Picture, turned unlucky souls into something that "didn't live long... fortunately."
Other titles draw from modern culture. "A Case of Chiaroscuro" borrows an Italian art term for light-and-shadow contrast, often used in film noir. "Like Chronitons Through the Hourglass" is a playful twist on the opening narration of the long-running soap opera Days of Our Lives. And the premiere, "Valles Marineris," is named after a massive canyon system on Mars—so Captain Pike and his crew might be heading to the Red Planet.
For those new to the series, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is a prequel to The Original Series, following Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) and his crew before James T. Kirk took command. Season 4 will be the penultimate season; the show will conclude with a shortened fifth and final season expected in 2027.
