Buckle up, because ShowtimeSpot has your exclusive first look at Driver's Ed, the latest comedy from Bobby Farrelly (Dumb and Dumber, There's Something About Mary). Starring Kumail Nanjiani as a delightfully jaded driving instructor, the film channels the spirit of John Hughes with a modern twist. Check out the sneak peek below!

In our exclusive clip, Nanjiani's Mr. Rivers is supervising teenager Jeremy (Sam Nivola, The White Lotus) as he nervously takes the wheel. Rivers quizzes Jeremy and his three classmates—rebellious Evie (Sophie Telegadis), studious Aparna (Mohana Krishnan), and burnout Yoshi (Aidan Laprete)—about why they're in driver's ed. Jeremy, used to being chauffeured by his girlfriend, is now facing a long-distance relationship, and Rivers isn't buying it. "I've seen it all before," he deadpans, predicting doom for Jeremy's romance. But the real crisis? "Some a**hole doing 15 in a 30 zone."

What Is 'Driver's Ed' About?

When Jeremy's girlfriend calls and hints at a breakup, he spirals into panic. In a desperate move, he steals Mr. Rivers' driver's ed car and embarks on a road trip to her college campus, dragging his three mismatched classmates along for the ride. Along the way, they'll dodge the law, discover surprising truths about each other, and learn to keep their hands at ten and two. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival to rave reviews.

The cast also includes comedy legends Molly Shannon (Saturday Night Live), Alyssa Milano (Charmed), Lilah Pate (The Runarounds), and Ella Stiller (The Comeback). The script comes from Thomas Moffett (An Actor Prepares).

Bobby Farrelly, who with his brother Peter defined 90s comedy, is now flying solo. Driver's Ed marks his third directorial effort without Peter, following the sports dramedy Champions and the holiday horror comedy Dear Santa. For fans of classic John Hughes, this film promises the same mix of teen angst, humor, and heart—but with a 21st-century spin.
