For the uninitiated, Boyce was the chief medical officer in "The Cage," the original unaired pilot for Star Trek. He was played by John Hoyt and later replaced by Dr. Mark Piper and eventually the beloved "Bones" McCoy. However, Boyce made a memorable return in the two-part episode "The Menagerie," and now, sixty years later, he's back on the Enterprise in Strange New Worlds, having transferred from the USS Sunita.
