Halloween Town isn't exactly known for its upstanding citizens. Jack Skellington means well, even when his grand ideas turn into chaotic messes, but not every resident of The Nightmare Before Christmas can claim the same. Inviting the film's villain to move into your valley might seem like a questionable decision, but that's part of the charm of Disney Dreamlight Valley—you get to live alongside characters you'd never trust in real life.
This spooky season, the game is offering players a chance to welcome Oogie Boogie and his faithful ghost dog Zero as permanent additions. But there's a catch: you need to start the questline before November 4 to secure them. Miss that window, and you'll have to wait until next Halloween for another shot.
How to Unlock Oogie Boogie and Zero
To get started, you'll need access to the Peaceful Meadow, Scrooge McDuck's Store, and Chez Remy. Once those are unlocked, check your in-game mail and investigate the strange mirror inside Scrooge's shop. That kicks off "A Halloween Invasion", the first of six quests in Oogie Boogie's storyline. The quests have been rolling out weekly since September 23, with "Rescue Mission" available from October 14, followed by "Let the Games Begin" on October 21 and "Oogie Boogie's Big Game" on October 28.
Here's the good news: you only need to start the first quest before the deadline. Once you've done that, you can finish the remaining challenges at your own pace. So even if you're returning after a break, you can secure access by simply beginning the opening quest. But if you skip that first step, you'll be waiting until around Halloween next year, according to developer Gameloft.
Other Halloween Events to Enjoy
While you're in the valley, there are plenty of other seasonal activities to dive into. The returning Trick or Treat event runs through October 31, letting you collect candy around the Plaza and go door-to-door at homes with jack-o'-lanterns outside. This year's rewards include new exterior decorations inspired by The Nightmare Before Christmas.
There's also the Haunted Floating Festival, which continues through October 31, offering seasonal decorations through new and returning puzzles. Just remember that these events have their own schedules, so starting Oogie Boogie's storyline won't extend them.

So, if you want to add Oogie Boogie and Zero to your valley, mark your calendar and start that quest before November 4. It's a small step that ensures you won't have to wait a whole year to bring a little more Halloween magic to your Disney Dreamlight Valley.
