Taylor Sheridan's expanding TV empire just got a firm date for one of its newest entries. CBS has officially set the return of Marshals, the Yellowstone spin-off that made the leap from streaming to network television. Season 2 will premiere on Saturday, October 4 at 8:30 PM, with the second episode airing a week later on October 11 at its regular 8 PM time slot.
The announcement came as part of a broader rollout of CBS premiere dates this afternoon. Marshals marks Sheridan's first show to air directly on CBS rather than debuting on Paramount+, and despite a mixed reception from die-hard Yellowstone fans, the series earned a second season renewal thanks to solid ratings.
What to Expect from 'Marshals' Season 2
The first season of Marshals took a different approach than Sheridan's usual fare, adopting a more traditional network TV "episode of the week" structure. That shift proved jarring for viewers accustomed to the sprawling, serialized storytelling of Yellowstone and its other spin-offs. Still, the show found enough of an audience to justify another outing.
Luke Grimes returns as Kayce Dutton, the character he played on Yellowstone. Grimes recently appeared alongside Pedro Pascal and Joaquin Phoenix in Ari Aster's A24 Western Eddington. Logan Marshall-Green, who also has a role in Christopher Nolan's upcoming epic The Odyssey, is back as Pete Calvin. Country music star Riley Green also returns after a small role in the first season.
The series was created for television by Spencer Hudnut, who wrote and executive produces the show. Sheridan remains involved as an executive producer, though Marshals represents a more hands-off approach compared to his flagship series.
Sheridan's schedule remains packed. The third season of Lioness is set to premiere next week, while new seasons of Tulsa King and Mayor of Kingstown are expected before the end of the year, though neither has an official return date yet. The highly anticipated third season of Landman was pushed back after filming was delayed to August, making a 2026 return unlikely.
Earlier this year, Sheridan expanded the Yellowstone universe with two new shows: Dutton Ranch and Marshals. While Dutton Ranch was warmly received by longtime fans, Marshals faced a tougher road. Critics noted that the procedural format felt like a departure from Sheridan's signature style, but the show's performance on CBS proved there's still an appetite for more stories set in the Dutton universe.
For those who haven't caught up, the first season of Marshals is currently streaming on Paramount+. Season 2 will air exclusively on CBS, with episodes available on Paramount+ the day after they air.
