It's a big day for fans of the Avatar universe. Avatar: Seven Havens officially premieres today on Paramount+, bringing a fresh chapter to the beloved franchise that began with Avatar: The Last Airbender in 2005. The new series, created by original showrunners Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino, picks up after the events of The Legend of Korra and introduces a brand-new Avatar for a new generation.

The premiere includes the first three episodes of Book 1, with additional episodes rolling out every Friday through October 30. Paramount has already ordered a second season (Book 2), though no release date has been announced yet. This 26-episode saga is split into two 13-episode books, each half-hour in length.

A World Shattered

Set in a world devastated by a cataclysmic event, Avatar: Seven Havens follows Pavi, a young Earthbender who discovers she is the Avatar after Korra. But in this dangerous era, being the Avatar marks her as humanity's destroyer, not its savior. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, Pavi and her long-lost twin Nisha must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization's last strongholds collapse.

The voice cast includes Saheli Khan as Pavi, Aishu Devan as Nisha, Akshay Khanna as Karthik, Major Curda as Jae, Sakina Jaffrey as Agam, Darren Barnet as Daemin, Dianne Doan as Zi, and Dee Bradley Baker as Geet and Ruhi.

2026: A Banner Year for Avatar

This year has already been packed with Avatar content. Netflix's live-action adaptation of the original series returned for a second season, with Gordon Cormier as Aang, Kiawentiio as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, and Dallas Liu as Prince Zuko. Miyako joined the cast as Toph Beifong, Aang's earthbending master. Meanwhile, the animated movie Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender had a rocky road—delayed, then scrapped from theaters, then leaked online—but still managed to find an audience on Paramount+.

Why This Matters

Avatar: The Last Airbender has remained a cultural touchstone for over two decades, and its sequel series The Legend of Korra expanded the world in bold new directions. Now, with Seven Havens, Konietzko and DiMartino are returning to the franchise that made them legends, and fans are eager to see how they handle a post-Korra world where the Avatar is no longer revered.

The series also marks a significant moment for animation on streaming platforms, as Paramount+ continues to invest heavily in the Avatar brand. With the success of the live-action series and the animated movie, Seven Havens is poised to be a major draw for subscribers.
