As Halloween approaches, Disney+ subscribers are rediscovering a bewitching gem. Agatha All Along, the dark fantasy comedy that first premiered in September 2024, has surged back into the platform's global top 10, including a strong showing in the United States. The revival comes on the heels of VisionQuest, the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe series, which has dominated the streaming service since its debut.
The nine-episode miniseries follows Agatha Harkness, a witch who has been trapped under a magical spell for three years. When a mysterious teenager helps her break free, she finds herself powerless and must form a new coven to face the legendary Witches' Road. Along the way, she contends with old enemies and fights to reclaim her magic, all while navigating twists that keep viewers guessing.
Critics and audiences alike have praised the show for its sharp writing, stellar performances, and bold storytelling. On Rotten Tomatoes, it holds an impressive 84% critics' score and an 82% audience rating, with particular acclaim for its ensemble cast, including Kathryn Hahn, Joe Locke, Aubrey Plaza, and Patti LuPone. The series also earned major award nominations and was a viewership hit, drawing 9.3 million global viewers in its first week and hitting #1 on Disney+ at the time.
Now, two years later, Agatha All Along is finding new life. Its return to the charts is a testament to its lasting appeal, especially as viewers seek out spooky content for the season. The timing also aligns with the release of VisionQuest, which serves as a direct follow-up to WandaVision and shares thematic and narrative connections with Agatha's story. For fans of the MCU's more mystical side, this is the perfect moment to revisit or discover the series.
While there are no official plans for a second season, Marvel's Brad Winderbaum has hinted at the possibility, saying, "For sure is something that we would want to do, but let's not rush it. Let's get the right idea and then make it." For now, the existing episodes remain a complete, satisfying arc that stands on its own.
