The Marvel Cinematic Universe has become a pop-culture juggernaut, but even after more than a decade of blockbusters, plenty of iconic Avengers from the comics have yet to suit up on screen. With the MCU heading toward a soft reboot and major events like Avengers: Doomsday on the horizon, now is the perfect time to spotlight the heroes who could finally join the team.
Darkhawk (Christopher Powell)
Darkhawk may not be a household name, but this 1990s cult favorite has a devoted fanbase. With a sleek, armored design and a unique transformation mechanic, he joined the West Coast Avengers in Avengers West Coast #94 (1993). He later played key roles in major storylines like the Annihilation crossover. His distinct look and combat style would be a fresh addition to the MCU.
Brawn (Amadeus Cho)
Amadeus Cho is already connected to the MCU through his mother, Helen Cho, who appeared in Avengers: Age of Ultron. As Brawn, he transforms into a Hulk-like figure while retaining his intelligence—a perfect fit for the Young Avengers or to fill the void left by Smart Hulk. With Hulk returning to his savage form in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Cho could be the brains-and-brawn hero the MCU needs.
The Irredeemable Ant-Man (Eric O'Grady)
Eric O'Grady, also known as Black Ant, is a chaotic, unapologetically rude antihero who brought a fresh dynamic to the Secret Avengers. As Paul Rudd's Scott Lang eventually steps away, O'Grady's flawed, redemption-seeking arc could make for a compelling new Ant-Man—and a perfect setup for a dramatic Avengers debut.
Storm (Ororo Munroe)
Though best known as an X-Men leader, Storm also served as the mutant representative on the Avengers after the fall of Krakoa. Recruited by Thor himself, she brought a thunder-based power set and a voice for mutantkind. With the X-Men finally entering the MCU, Storm's Avengers tenure could be a natural bridge between teams.
Firestar (Angelica Jones)
Firestar gained fame as a co-star in the classic Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends cartoon. Far from a Johnny Storm clone, she's an underrated fire-wielder who could give Spider-Man some much-needed allies—especially now that Peter Parker is flying solo. Her inclusion would add a fiery new dynamic to the Avengers.
Agent Venom (Flash Thompson)
Flash Thompson's transformation into Agent Venom is one of the most compelling symbiote stories in Marvel history. With the symbiote likely appearing in Spider-Man: Brand New Day or Avengers: Doomsday, Flash could become a government-trained operative for the Secret Avengers, offering a darker, more militaristic take on the Venom legacy.
These are just a few of the many Avengers still waiting in the wings. As the MCU expands, fans can only hope that heroes like Darkhawk, Brawn, and Storm finally get their moment in the spotlight.
