Vin Diesel's adrenaline-fueled 2002 action film xXx is making a streaming comeback on Paramount+ in July 2026, giving fans a chance to revisit the movie that helped cement his status as a Hollywood heavyweight. The film, which followed Diesel's breakout in The Fast and the Furious, sees him play Xander Cage, an extreme sports athlete turned reluctant government spy sent to Europe to thwart a Russian terrorist plot.
Produced on a $70 million budget, xXx was a box office smash, earning $267 million worldwide—$142 million domestically and $125 million overseas. Its success was fueled by Diesel's rising star power, but he famously skipped the sequel, xXx: State of the Union, which underperformed with Ice Cube in the lead. Diesel returned for the 2017 threequel xXx: Return of Xander Cage, a cult favorite that never quite recaptured the original's magic.
Now, 24 years later, the original xXx lands on Paramount+ just as Diesel prepares to close another chapter. The Fast & Furious franchise is barreling toward its finale with Fast Forever, set for release on March 17, 2028. Directed by Louis Leterrier and written by Christina Hodson and Michael Lesslie, the film will reunite most of the core cast, including Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson. Diesel recently shared a sneak peek from the set as the franchise nears $7.5 billion globally.
Beyond the big screen, the Fast & Furious universe is expanding to television. During an NBCUniversal upfront presentation in May, it was announced that four TV projects are in development at Peacock, with the primary series pilot being written by Mike Daniels. Details remain scarce, but the move signals that the franchise's world will continue long after Diesel's final race.
