When Tulsa King returns for its fourth season, Dwight Manfredi (Sylvester Stallone) faces a mountain of trouble. His businesses are being seized, old enemies circle, and the law is closing in. But the most dangerous threat isn't a mob boss or a street gang—it's a familiar face with a new title: Cal Thresher, now the governor of Oklahoma.
Cal Thresher (Neal McDonough) was introduced in Season 2 as an oil tycoon with a stake in the medical marijuana trade. He saw Dwight as competition and tried to squeeze him out, but always preferred to keep his hands clean. Instead of direct violence, he used proxies like the Triads to do his dirty work. When that backfired, Cal pivoted to politics, winning the governor's race with help from Dwight's love interest, Margaret (Dana Delany). Now, as the state's top executive, Cal has more power than ever—and he no longer needs Dwight's help.
Their relationship has always been complicated. Cal has sabotaged Dwight's expansion plans, yet he's also asked Dwight to save his business when the Triads forced a fire sale. Dwight even helped Cal secure the attorney general's support and saved him from a bomb at a campaign event. They've been reluctant allies, but that dynamic is about to change. As governor, Cal outranks Dwight and can target him through legal channels—no bloodshed required. That's a nightmare for a mob boss who's trying to go legit.
Season 4 finds Dwight fighting to legitimize his growing empire, but he's being hit from all sides. The trailer shows his businesses seized, leaving him with almost nothing. With corrupt politicians and old ghosts from his past, Dwight must protect what he's built and the crew that stood by him. Cal, meanwhile, has promised Margaret a position in his administration, and he could use her agenda—and Dwight's feelings for her—to dismantle Dwight's operation piece by piece.
The question is whether Cal will actually turn against Dwight. Their rivalry has always been more about business than personal animosity. But with Cal now holding political power, he might see Dwight as a liability. If he decides to clean up Tulsa's crime problem, Dwight is an obvious target. And with Amanda Clark (Gretchen Mol) pushing for a crime-free city, the pressure is mounting.
Meanwhile, the Tulsa King universe is expanding. Season 5 is already in production, with the story shifting to New York City. The spin-off Frisco King, starring Samuel L. Jackson as Russell Lee Washington Jr., is also on the way. Stallone has confirmed he'll appear in the spin-off, so Dwight's story is far from over. But for now, all eyes are on the showdown with Cal Thresher.
Will Dwight outmaneuver a governor who can use the law as a weapon? Or will Cal's political power finally bring down the General? Tune in to Tulsa King Season 4, premiering Friday, October 16, to find out.
