Lola Petticrew is having a moment. After dominating screens in the Hulu hit Furious—which just wrapped a explosive first season and has already been renewed—she's now captivating audiences in the PBS drama Trespasses. The series, which aired in the UK last year, is currently rolling out stateside, and we've got an exclusive peek at what's coming in Episode 2.
In this new clip, Cushla (Petticrew) doesn't hold back. She's just discovered that Michael (Tom Cullen) is married—and that his wandering ways aren't exactly a one-time slip. Based on Louise Kennedy's acclaimed novel, Trespasses is often described as Outlander meets Belfast. It follows Cushla, a young Catholic schoolteacher, who falls for Michael, an older, married Protestant barrister. Their forbidden love unfolds against the backdrop of the Troubles, pulling them between desire, duty, and the very real dangers of their divided world.
Petticrew's rise has been meteoric. Before Furious, she earned a BAFTA nomination for her role in the miniseries Say Nothing, alongside Hazel Doupe and Maxine Peake. Her earlier work includes A Bump Along the Way, Dating Amber, and She Said. Now, she's leading a stellar cast that includes Gillian Anderson (of The X-Files fame) and Tom Cullen (known for Downton Abbey).
The series was created for TV by Ailbhe Keogan, whose writing credits include Run & Jump, Joyride, and Bad Sisters. Her adaptation brings Kennedy's story to life with a sharp, emotional edge.
