It's been seven years since Prime Video dropped all eight episodes of The Boys Season 1 in one binge-worthy day. Back then, the streaming landscape was different—no Reacher, no Bosch: Legacy. Now, after five seasons and a finale that just hit the platform, the original series is officially over. But creator Eric Kripke isn't done with this universe. He's already mapping out what comes next, including the prequel Vought Rising starring Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash, and possibly more.

In an exclusive chat with Collider, Kripke addressed whether we'll see Hughie and Starlight again. "It's the last time in this story, yeah," he said, though he left a sliver of hope: "I don't have any specific, hard plans to bring them back. Is there a cameo in the future? Maybe, but I think their story is finished." For fans who loved the duo's arc, that might sting—but it also means the franchise is moving forward.

The Boys Finale Gives Kimiko the Happy Ending the Comics Denied Her
The Boys series finale gave Kimiko a bittersweet but hopeful ending, a major improvement over her dark fate in the comics. Karen Fukuhara explains how her character's journey came full circle.

What's Next After Vought Rising?

Beyond Vought Rising, which is expected in 2027, no other Boys projects are officially in development. But Kripke revealed that senior writers from both The Boys and Vought Rising are pitching ideas. "We're in very embryonic stages," he said. "We want these to be passion projects, not just widgets of product. So we've asked people, 'If you can take your passion idea and set it in this world, pitch it to us.' We've gotten a few that are pretty interesting." Nothing is announced yet, but Kripke hasn't even pitched to Amazon—so there's room for surprises.

The post-Homelander world is a key focus. "You have all these loose superheroes out in the world, like loose nukes," Kripke explained. "No company protecting them, covering up messes, or paying insurance. Some try to be heroes on a lower budget; others become supervillains. It leads to a really interesting, messy Wild West." He confirmed that the Gen V kids could return, as their story was cut short after two seasons. "We're definitely talking about utilizing some of them," he added.

Could Future Spin-Offs Be Limited Series?

Kripke also discussed whether upcoming shows might run for just one season. "We've discussed both," he said. The Boys took five seasons to tell its story, but Gen V was canceled after two. "I think it depends on the idea. Some want to let you marinate in characters; the best single-season ideas are more concept-driven. We're not limiting ourselves."

For now, fans can revisit the full series on Prime Video. If you haven't caught up, check out our recap of the finale to see how it all wrapped up. And if you're hungry for more superhero content that's definitely not for kids, we've got a parent's guide to the genre's most adult offerings.

As for Vought Rising, it hasn't been picked up for Season 2 yet—that decision will likely depend on its performance when it arrives next year. But with Kripke's track record, don't be surprised if more spin-offs are announced before 2026 ends. The Boys universe is far from finished.
