Prime Video has earned a reputation for pulling the plug on beloved series, and the latest casualty is the action-comedy Ride or Die, starring Hannah Waddingham of Ted Lasso fame. The show, which premiered to strong numbers and critical acclaim, was axed after just one season, leaving fans and cast alike stunned.

Now, Waddingham has finally broken her silence on the cancellation. In a recent interview, she admitted she has no clue what the future holds for the series, but she's proud of what the team accomplished in its debut season. She also revealed that she performed 85 to 90 percent of her own stunts, which left her physically drained but creatively fulfilled.

Crazyhead Is the Buffy Successor You Never Knew You Needed
Crazyhead, a 2016 Netflix horror-comedy, earned a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score but was canceled too soon. Here's why it's the Buffy successor you missed.

“I was getting a little tired, honestly,” she said, “but I was so happy with the show.” Her comments come as the streamer continues to make headlines for its abrupt cancellations, following the recent axing of Spider-Noir despite its record-breaking 11 Emmy nominations.

Why Was Ride or Die Canceled?

Ride or Die followed Waddingham's character, Judith, an international assassin who goes on the run with her best friend Debbie (Octavia Spencer) after a hit goes sideways. The series topped Prime Video's global charts for three consecutive weeks and earned a 96% critics' score and an 84% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Yet, those numbers weren't enough to save it.

While Amazon never gave an official reason, a report suggests the show's target demographic—middle-aged women—isn't a priority for the streamer, as many already subscribe for shopping perks. That would explain why strong viewership didn't translate to a renewal. However, the story isn't over: Paramount Television Studios is reportedly shopping the series to other networks, hoping to find a new home.

What's Next for the Story?

The first season wrapped up its main conflict but left several threads dangling. Judith and Debbie reunite at a train station, planning a fresh start in Cambodia, only to discover they're still being hunted by professional killers. Meanwhile, the allegiances of assassin handler Sam (Calam Lynch) and weapons specialist Queenie (Savannah Steyn) remain in flux, setting up potential arcs for a second season.
