Apple TV+ has had a banner year in 2026, with hits like Your Friends & Neighbors, Shrinking, and the Elle Fanning-led Margo's Got Money Troubles drawing in subscribers. But nothing has matched the cultural juggernaut that is Ted Lasso. The fourth season, which brought Ted back from Kansas to coach the new AFC Richmond women's team, the Lady Greyhounds, has been a triumph of heart and humor, earning rave reviews and record-breaking viewership.
Now, fans are eager to know what's next for the beloved series. In a recent interview on the Talk Easy with Sam Fragoso podcast, star Jason Sudeikis offered some tantalizing hints about the show's future, including the possibility of seasons 5 and 6.
Sudeikis on More Ted Lasso
When asked about the potential for additional seasons, Sudeikis was candid: "I would like to." He emphasized the collaborative effort required to bring the show to life, noting that "it takes a village." He also expressed confidence that Apple TV+ would be on board, especially given the massive success of Season 4's premiere, which pulled in an astonishing 296.6 million views in its first two days—a record for the streamer.
However, Sudeikis was quick to temper expectations. "I just don't know," he admitted, adding, "We haven't started a writers' room or anything like that." This suggests that while the appetite for more Ted Lasso is strong, the creative process is still in its early stages.
The Season 4 Finale and Beyond
Season 4 concluded with a pair of episodes that many consider the series' best. The penultimate installment, "Mae Rides the Bus," was an emotional tour de force, while the finale delivered the uplifting, joy-filled resolution that fans have come to expect. With Ted now staying in Richmond as assistant coach to Alice Chilton (Tanya Reynolds), there's plenty of narrative room to explore.
Coach Beard actor Brendan Hunt recently revealed that the cast "always basically hoped we were coming back for more than one" season, indicating a shared desire to continue the story. The show's enduring popularity, coupled with Sudeikis's openness, makes a fifth season seem likely—though nothing is set in stone.
What's Next for Apple TV+
While Ted Lasso remains the flagship, Apple TV+ continues to expand its roster. Rebecca Ferguson's Silo is climbing back into the top 10 as Season 4 approaches, and Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey is dominating the platform. The streamer's commitment to high-quality programming is clear, and Ted Lasso remains its crown jewel.
For now, fans will have to wait for official word on Season 5. But with Sudeikis's enthusiasm and the show's undeniable success, it seems only a matter of time before we return to Richmond. Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
