Kara Zor-El's latest big-screen outing may have stumbled at the box office, but DC isn't done with the Maid of Might just yet. The celebrated comic that served as the blueprint for the movie is getting a fresh lease on life—this time as an immersive audio experience.
DC and Penguin Random House Audio have announced that the complete eight-issue Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow series will be released as a full-cast audiobook on September 1, 2026. This isn't your typical audiobook; it's closer to an audio drama, complete with a full cast, original music, and sound effects. And yes, Krypto the Superdog is along for the ride.
Who's Voicing Supergirl and the Crew?
Marcella Lentz-Pope takes on the role of Supergirl, while Amelia Tyler voices the older Ruthye and serves as narrator. Lim Shi-An voices the younger Ruthye, and Jon Bailey pulls double duty as both the villain Krem and the beloved Krypto. The supporting cast includes Marc Thompson as Zor-El, Ellen Adair as Alura, and Tan Kheng Hua as Ruthye's mother. The original comic was written by Tom King and illustrated by Bilquis Evely.
Full-cast audio adaptations have become increasingly popular, especially after the success of star-studded series like the Harry Potter Audible productions. This trend is now bringing DC's cosmic storytelling to life in a new way.
An Audio Epic in the Making
The production is directed, produced, and adapted by Roshan Singh Sambhi, who previously co-showran the DC audio drama DC High Volume: Batman. Sambhi describes the project as a faithful "love letter" to the original comic, with the team meticulously studying each panel to translate its grand cosmic imagery into sound.
"Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is one of the most ornately beautiful pieces of sequential storytelling ever put to page," Sambhi said. "We've faithfully studied every panel to build a theater of the mind, an operatic daydream that sits differently in each listener's imagination."
The official synopsis sets the stage: "Kara Zor-El finds her life without purpose. A young woman who saw her planet destroyed, she was sent to Earth to protect a baby cousin who ended up not needing her. When an alien girl seeks her out for a vicious mission of revenge, Supergirl, her dog Krypto, and the angry child head into space on a journey that will shake them to their very core."
This audio adaptation arrives as DC continues to expand its multimedia footprint, from blockbuster films to immersive audio experiences. For fans who want more cosmic adventures, check out how Blade returns to lead a new Midnight Sons team in the comics.
