For fans who were hoping to see Captain Seven of Nine and the USS Enterprise-G continue their adventures on screen, the wait might be longer than expected. The proposed Star Trek: Legacy spin-off from Star Trek: Picard seems to be stuck in development limbo. But there's good news: IDW Publishing has launched a new flagship Star Trek comic series that picks up right where the show left off, and the second issue is on its way.
The first issue, already on shelves, introduces a new frontier: the Epsilon Corridor, a previously uncharted region of space. The Federation dispatches a "wagon train" of starships to explore this area, with the goal of finding a new home for a group of displaced alien refugees. Leading this mission is the Enterprise-G, the Federation flagship that was handed over to Seven of Nine in the final moments of Picard. But this new corridor may prove even more dangerous than Seven's harrowing journey through the Delta Quadrant during Star Trek: Voyager, as a mysterious and sinister force is determined to keep Starfleet out.
In issue #2, written by Christopher Cantwell (Halt and Catch Fire) with art by Dennis Menheere (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) and letters by Jodie Troutman, the Enterprise and its companions—the heavily armed Defiant-class USS Lewis and the Vulcan ship VSS Skon—discover a seemingly perfect world that could be the ideal new home for their refugee passengers. But tensions quickly escalate as the ships find themselves on the brink of open conflict. Is this merely the stress of the situation, or is some alien influence turning them against one another? To find out, you'll need to pre-order Star Trek #2 at your local comic shop before October 12; it hits shelves on November 18.
The crew of the Enterprise-G is a mix of familiar faces and fresh additions. Alongside Seven, we have Jack Crusher, the son of Jean-Luc Picard and Beverly Crusher, and Sidney LaForge, daughter of Geordi LaForge—both introduced in Picard. The comic also brings back Dr. Alexander Rohzenko, the once-wayward son of Worf who last appeared on Deep Space Nine, and introduces Lily Sato, an Andorian communications specialist and descendant of Star Trek: Enterprise's Hoshi Sato. Plus, there's a roster of brand-new characters whose stories will unfold in future issues.
This new series is a must-read for anyone eager to see more of Seven's captaincy and the next chapter of the Star Trek universe.
