The Scrubs reboot is officially back for a second season, and it's already making waves with a major cast upgrade. Ava Bunn, who plays Dr. Sam Tosh, has been promoted to series regular for the upcoming season, signaling a fresh chapter for the beloved medical sitcom.
Returning to Sacred Heart in February 2026, the revival brought back original stars Zach Braff (JD), Donald Faison (Turk), and Sarah Chalke (Elliot Reid), now in senior roles as Chief of Medicine, Chief of Surgery, and attending physician, respectively. The show quickly became the highest-rated comedy telecast on any network in the 18-49 demographic, drawing over 11 million total viewers across all platforms in its first 35 days. That success earned it a swift renewal for Season 2.
Joining Bunn as returning series regulars are Jacob Dudman (Asher Green), David Gridley (Blake Lewis), Layla Mohammadi (Amara Hadi), and Amanda Morrow (Dashana Trainor), all reprising their roles as interns. John C. McGinley (Perry Cox) and Judy Reyes (Carla Espinosa) are also back, while Rachel Bilson will appear in a recurring role after her guest spot in the Season 1 finale.
Behind the scenes, veteran comedy showrunner Mike Royce has come on board as executive producer. The Season 2 logline teases: "J.D., Turk and Elliot have leveled up from interns to icons at Sacred Heart. Now, the respected doctors inspire the next generation while balancing the ups and downs of working in a hospital.
