While Anne Hathaway's Verity is wrapping up its big-screen run, another Colleen Hoover adaptation is quietly dominating the streaming world. Reminders of Him, the 2026 romantic drama based on Hoover's novel, has surged into the top 10 most-streamed movies on HBO Max globally, giving fans a fresh reason to revisit this emotional story.
Directed by Vanessa Caswill, Reminders of Him stars Maika Monroe (It Follows), Tyriq Withers, Lauren Graham (Gilmore Girls), Bradley Whitford, and country star Lainey Wilson in her feature film debut. The film explores themes of motherhood, forgiveness, and the healing power of love, following a woman trying to reconnect with her daughter after a tragic accident. It's a departure from the thriller vibes of Verity, but it's clearly striking a chord with audiences.
The timing couldn't be better. Verity, which also stars Dakota Johnson, Josh Hartnett, and Ismael Cruz Córdova, has been a box office success, grossing over $170 million worldwide against a $40 million budget. As it begins leaving theaters, fans are turning to Reminders of Him to get their Hoover fix. The film's streaming resurgence is a testament to Hoover's enduring popularity and the appeal of her emotionally charged narratives.
Interestingly, Reminders of Him was the lowest-grossing of the recent Hoover adaptations at the box office, but it still turned a profit, earning $89 million worldwide on a $25 million budget. Critics were generally positive, with Collider's review praising Monroe and Withers for their captivating performances in a genre they hadn't previously explored.
For those who haven't seen it, Reminders of Him offers a different flavor from Verity. While Verity is an erotic psychological thriller, Reminders of Him is a heartfelt drama with a twist. It's a story about second chances and the complexities of family, and it's resonating with viewers on HBO Max.
If you're in the mood for more Hoover adaptations, you might also check out It Ends with Us or Regretting You, both of which have found success on streaming platforms. And for those who loved Verity, the upcoming 4K Blu-ray release on December 15 will include two alternate endings, offering even more insight into the story.
As Reminders of Him continues to climb the charts, it's clear that Hoover's stories have a lasting appeal. Whether you're a longtime fan or new to her work, this streaming hit is worth adding to your watchlist.
