Get ready for a love story unlike any other. Wicker, the audacious fantasy comedy starring Olivia Colman and Alexander Skarsgård, has officially locked its release date. After making a splash at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, the film will arrive in theaters this fall.

Black Bear announced that Wicker will debut in limited release on October 23, 2026, before expanding to more screens on October 30. The movie is based on Ursula Wills-Jones's short story "The Wicker Husband" and promises a wild ride through love, jealousy, and social norms.

Original 'Alien' Stars Tom Skerritt and Veronica Cartwright Reunite at Rose City Comic Con
Tom Skerritt and Veronica Cartwright, original 'Alien' cast members, reunite at Rose City Comic Con this September for an exclusive panel with never-before-heard stories.

Here's the official logline: "Wicker is an audacious comedic fable about sex, marriage, and social convention, centering on a wholly original love story. When the ostracized Fisherwoman (Colman) commissions a wicker husband from the local Basketmaker (Dinklage), her unexpected romance with the creation (Skarsgård) sparks jealousy and threatens the village’s social order."

The cast is a who's who of talent. Alongside Colman and Skarsgård, the film features Peter Dinklage as the Basketmaker and Elizabeth Debicki in a key role. For fans of The Crown, this pairing is a dream come true: Colman played Queen Elizabeth II in Seasons 3 and 4, while Debicki portrayed Princess Diana in Season 5. The two never shared a scene on the Netflix series, so Wicker finally gives viewers a chance to see them together.

Early buzz is strong. The film holds a 91% Rotten Tomatoes score based on 22 reviews from the festival circuit. Collider's own Therese Lacson noted that the movie "wants to be a fable, but it can't decide between the charming vagueness of a true fable and a deeper story that delves into the human condition."

Black Bear's President of U.S. Distribution, Benjamin Kramer, shared his excitement: "Wicker is just the kind of film we’re passionate about championing at Black Bear. It’s bold, entertaining, and totally unlike anything else, as its early fans at Sundance have seen. Eleanor and Alex’s creative ambition shines through at every turn. Alongside an unforgettable cast, they have created a fresh and special experience."
