The upcoming reimagining of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow has found its leading man. Nicholas Galitzine, known for his recent turn as He-Man in Masters of the Universe, is in final negotiations to play Ichabod Crane opposite Sydney Sweeney in the film Hollow. The project, which has been generating buzz since its announcement, is set to offer a fresh, darker take on Washington Irving's classic tale.

According to Deadline, Galitzine will step into the role that was famously portrayed by Johnny Depp in Tim Burton's 1999 film. The new version, directed by Lindsey Anderson Beer (known for Pet Sematary: Bloodlines), is based on Beer's debut novel and promises to blend supernatural horror with psychological and erotic thriller elements. Sweeney will star as Katrina Van Tassel, the object of affection caught between two very different suitors.

The casting of Galitzine completes the central love triangle. Earlier reports confirmed that Belmont Cameli, who appeared in Off Campus, would play Brom Bones, the local rival for Katrina's affections. With Galitzine on board as the intellectual outsider, the dynamic between the three characters is set to be a focal point of the film.

Galitzine has been on a career upswing, having recently starred in the WWII sports drama The Mosquito Bowl. His portrayal of the iconic superhero in Masters of the Universe turned heads, and now he's taking on a character known for his gawky, bookish demeanor—a stark contrast that could offer a fresh interpretation.

In Irving's original story, Ichabod Crane is a timid schoolteacher from Connecticut who arrives in Sleepy Hollow in the 1790s. He becomes infatuated with Katrina, but his rival Brom Bones, a local prankster, scares him away with tales of the Headless Horseman. The character has been reimagined in various adaptations, from Depp's more proactive detective in Burton's film to Tom Mison's modern-day version in the TV series.

Hollow is being produced by Sweeney's company, Honey Trap, which recently signed a first-look deal with Sony Pictures. The film is slated for a fall 2027 release, though no official date has been announced. As production gears up, fans are eager to see how this new take will honor the source material while bringing something fresh to the screen.

For those interested in similar reimaginings, Vin Diesel's witch hunter found a new home on Prime Video, and Guy Ritchie's action thriller is now streaming on Starz. Both offer genre twists that might appeal to fans of Hollow.

Stay tuned for more updates as Hollow continues to develop. With a compelling cast and a bold vision, this could be one of the most anticipated horror films of the decade.
