Apple TV has just dropped a fresh trailer for its upcoming eight-part thriller 12 12 12, and it's clear this isn't your typical heist story. The series pits Anthony Mackie, fresh off his turn in Captain America: Brave New World, against Jamie Dornan in a high-stakes game of cat and mouse that spans Europe. The new footage amps up the tension, revealing a deeply personal vendetta that fuels the chase.
Created by Dudi Appleton and Jim Keeble, 12 12 12 is built around a meticulously planned heist with a rigid timeline: 12 months of planning, 12 hours to pull it off, and a critical 12-day window to escape for good. The trailer hints that Dornan's character has taken something vital from Mackie's, turning what could have been a professional pursuit into a raw, psychological duel.
The series boasts a strong ensemble, including Jack Kesy, Agathe Rousselle, Sallie Harmsen, José Garcia, and Emmy nominee Kali Reis. But the real draw is the chemistry between Mackie and Dornan, both proven leads who bring intensity and nuance to their roles. It's a pairing that promises to elevate the heist genre with a sharp, stylish edge.
What Makes '12 12 12' Stand Out?
Unlike many heist thrillers that focus solely on the execution, 12 12 12 weaves three timelines together—the planning, the heist itself, and the aftermath. This structure allows for a deeper exploration of the characters' motivations and the consequences of their choices. The series follows a disgraced FBI agent (Mackie) and an American career criminal (Dornan) engaged in a zero-sum game across Europe, culminating in an epic raid on a bank vault buried deep beneath Zurich.
The new trailer also showcases the show's cinematic scope, with sweeping European locations and a tense, ticking-clock atmosphere. It's a blend of international action and procedural suspense that should appeal to fans of crime dramas that keep you guessing.
Behind the Scenes
Directing multiple episodes, including the pilot, is Kari Skogland, the Emmy-nominated and BAFTA-winning filmmaker known for helming The Falcon and the Winter Soldier with Mackie. Skogland also serves as an executive producer, bringing her experience with high-stakes storytelling to the project. Mackie and Dornan are also executive producers, with Mackie producing under his Make It With Gravy banner alongside Samantha Corbin-Miller, David Knoller, and Jason Spire for Inspire Entertainment. Paramount Television Studios and Anonymous Content are behind the production.
Apple TV has been making waves with its original programming, and 12 12 12 looks to be another standout addition. If you're a fan of psychological thrillers or high-concept dramas, this one should be on your radar.
