Streaming platforms have been scrambling to find their own version of Prime Video's massive hit Reacher, and for Netflix, that answer has been The Night Agent. The action-packed thriller has become a cornerstone of the streamer's lineup, but the end is now officially in sight. The show's fourth season, which will also be its last, is slated to drop in 2027.
Since its debut in 2023, The Night Agent has followed FBI agent Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) through a web of conspiracy and danger. The series quickly gained a loyal following, though viewership has dipped with each subsequent season. Despite that, Netflix gave the green light for a fourth season, only to confirm shortly after that it would be the finale. Production on the final episodes wrapped a few months ago, and while an exact premiere date hasn't been announced, a 2027 release in the first or second quarter seems most likely.
Who's Returning for the Final Season?
Gabriel Basso is set to reprise his role as Peter Sutherland, the agent at the heart of the story. Fans will also be thrilled to know that Luciane Buchanan, who played Rose Larkin in the first two seasons but was notably absent from Season 3, is confirmed to return for the finale. Her absence sparked significant backlash, so her comeback is a major win for the show's devoted audience.
The series was created by Shawn Ryan, the mind behind the acclaimed crime drama The Shield. Ryan has also been busy with other projects, including the legal thriller American Hostage starring Jon Hamm, but he's clearly committed to giving The Night Agent a proper send-off.
While the wait for 2027 might feel long, fans can catch up on all three existing seasons on Netflix. The show's blend of political intrigue, high-stakes action, and personal drama has made it a standout in the streaming landscape, and the final season promises to tie up loose ends in style.
For those who can't get enough of Netflix's action offerings, the streamer is also expanding its universe with projects like the Gray Man spin-off 'Dark Union', set for 2027. And if you're in the mood for more military-themed thrills, 'The Last Ship' offers a similar blend of apocalypse and espionage.
As the final season approaches, expect more details to emerge about the plot and any new cast members. For now, mark your calendars for 2027 and get ready to say goodbye to one of Netflix's most reliable action series.
