For four years, the name Reacher has been synonymous with one thing: a one-man wrecking crew. Alan Ritchson's towering, emotionally restrained Jack Reacher has been the backbone of Prime Video's action lineup, each season dropping him into a new town to dismantle whatever criminal enterprise crosses his path. But the era of the lone wolf is officially over.

With the premiere of Neagley on September 16—right after the Reacher Season 4 finale—the franchise has expanded, and the new spin-off is already making waves. According to Nielsen's latest U.S. streaming rankings, Neagley pulled in a staggering 661 million minutes watched during the week of September 28 through October 4, comfortably beating Reacher's 513 million minutes in the same period. That's a clear sign that audiences are ready for more than just the big guy.

Gotham by Daylight: DC's New Webtoon Horror Puts a Fresh Spin on the City's Dark Side
WEBTOON's Gotham by Daylight flips Batman's world upside down with a new villain who haunts the daylight, leaving Duke Thomas and ordinary citizens to face a cosmic threat alone.

The new series centers on Frances Neagley, played by Maria Sten, who first appeared in Reacher Season 1 as a former member of the Army's 110th Special Investigations Unit. Now a private investigator in Chicago, Neagley gets drawn into a mystery when a close friend from her past dies under suspicious circumstances. The show gives Sten the chance to step out of Ritchson's shadow and explore her character in depth.

"I'm so excited about the world getting to know Neagley a little bit better," Sten said. "I'm very grateful for the opportunity to just dive deeper into this character. I've lived with her for quite a while now, and I'm thrilled to scratch the surface a bit further compared to what we've seen so far." She also acknowledged the weight of the responsibility: "It's very exciting to be given this opportunity, but of course there's also a lot of pressure. I put a lot of pressure on myself to do well and to carry on the legacy in a way that pays homage to Reacher and the books and the characters that Lee Child created."

The success of Neagley is part of a broader trend for Prime Video's action slate. Ritchson himself has been busy with multiple projects, and his streaming dominance shows no signs of slowing down. But the numbers suggest that the spin-off is carving out its own audience, one that's eager for a different kind of hero.

And there's more on the horizon. During San Diego Comic-Con, Sten announced that Neagley will also get a spin-off novel—the first in the Jack Reacher universe to focus on a character other than Reacher himself. Titled Zero Margin, the book is a collaboration between Lee Child and author Yasmin Angoe, and it's slated for a March 2027 release. Meanwhile, the next Reacher novel, Chain Reaction, hits shelves tomorrow, written by Lee and Andrew Child.

With Neagley already outperforming its parent show, it's clear that Prime Video has a new franchise leader on its hands. Whether this marks a permanent shift or just a temporary surge remains to be seen, but for now, the student has officially become the master.
