Wilson Fisk may be the Kingpin most fans know, but the criminal underworld of New York is about to see a changing of the guard. In the pages of Spectacular Spider-Man: Brand New Day, a new power player is making a play for the throne, and it's none other than Martin Li, the villain known as Mister Negative. The latest preview for issue #4 sets the stage for a dramatic showdown that could redefine the city's criminal hierarchy.

For decades, Wilson Fisk has been the undisputed boss of New York's underworld, a master manipulator who hides his empire behind a facade of legitimate business. He's tangled with Spider-Man, Daredevil, and countless other street-level heroes, leaving a trail of broken lives in his wake. But Fisk isn't the only one to hold the Kingpin title. Before him, Alexander Bont wore the crown, and in another timeline, even Daredevil himself took on the role. Now, Dan Slott's current run is introducing a new contender to the legacy.

Tyler James Williams reveals why Gregory and Janine's Season 5 breakup was essential for their relationship, paving the way for a stronger future.

The story so far has centered on the Lexicon, a mysterious ledger that lists every major player in the criminal world. Whoever controls it holds immense power, and Spider-Man briefly had it in his grasp, using it to dismantle crime syndicates one by one. But a brutal encounter with a corrupted Punisher saw the book fall into the hands of Mister Negative, who now has his sights set on becoming the next Kingpin.

In the preview for issue #4, Peter Parker is gearing up to reclaim the Lexicon before Mister Negative can solidify his claim. But as his ally Yuri Watanabe points out, walking into a meeting of New York's most dangerous crime lords is suicide. Mister Negative has the Inner Demons at his command, and the Dark Punisher is now his enforcer. The last time Spider-Man faced this corrupted Frank Castle, it ended with Yuri injured, the Daily Bugle building destroyed, and Peter nearly taking a bullet to the face.

Despite the odds, Peter knows he can't wait for backup. Frank's life hangs in the balance, and every second counts. Meanwhile, Mister Negative is already making his pitch to the assembled crime bosses, positioning himself as the one who took down both Spider-Man and the Punisher. He's willing to sacrifice Frank to cement his name in the Lexicon, and the room seems ready to accept him as the new Kingpin.

The stakes have never been higher for Spider-Man. Mister Negative is at his most powerful, wielding the Lexicon, the Punisher, and the attention of the entire criminal underworld. Peter will have to pull off his most daring plan yet to stop him from turning Frank into a weapon against the city. The issue features interior art by Marcus To, with a striking cover by Phil Jimenez and Alex Sinclair that shows Spider-Man looming over the Lexicon, with Frank, Mister Negative, and the legacy of Kingpin forming a fearsome backdrop.

This five-part series has been a nostalgic return to the classic Brand New Day era, and it's building toward an explosive climax. With only one issue after #4, fans are on the edge of their seats. Spectacular Spider-Man: Brand New Day #4 hits shelves on August 19, and the preview pages above offer a tantalizing glimpse of the chaos to come.
