Michelle Monaghan has been one of the busiest stars in Hollywood, and she's not slowing down. After starring in The White Lotus Season 3 and gearing up for the star-studded Netflix thriller The Whisper Man alongside Adam Scott, Robert De Niro, and Michael Keaton, she's now turning her attention to a possible return to one of her most popular roles.

Monaghan recently sat down with Collider to discuss her partnership with the melatonin brand Natrol, but the conversation quickly turned to her action-comedy franchise The Family Plan. The sequel, The Family Plan 2, dropped on Apple TV+ in November 2025 and has been climbing the streaming charts ever since. In the film, Monaghan reprises her role as Jessica Morgan, the wife of Mark Wahlberg's character, Dan. The first movie followed a former assassin living undercover as a suburban dad, while the sequel takes the family to London for a chaotic Christmas reunion with Dan's half-brother, played by Kit Harington.

Disney's $220M 'Tron: Ares' Flop Seals Franchise Fate, Streaming Drop in May 2026
Disney's Tron: Ares, a $220 million sci-fi bomb, marks the end of the Tron franchise on the big screen as it loses its hold on streaming.

When asked about the possibility of a third film, Monaghan didn't hold back her enthusiasm. "I would love for there to be a third one. I know that we'd all jump at the chance to do it," she said. "I know Mark really wants to do it, and I definitely want to do it, and we've got some wonderful fans out there that really love that film."

She also highlighted what makes the franchise special: its broad appeal. "We make so few of those kinds of movies where you can sit down and watch it with all age groups. It's very multi-generational, and it applies to a lot of people," Monaghan explained. "We've definitely got some ideas for a third one, so hopefully that will come to fruition."

While Apple has yet to officially greenlight The Family Plan 3, the first two films remain strong performers on the platform. The original 2023 movie still sits comfortably in Apple TV+'s top 10, and the sequel's success has fueled speculation about a trilogy. For fans of action-comedy with a family twist, this is promising news.

Monaghan's comments come as she prepares for a busy 2026. She'll appear in The Whisper Man, a thriller based on the novel by Alex North, which hits Netflix on August 28. The film boasts an ensemble cast that includes Adam Scott, Robert De Niro, and Michael Keaton. Meanwhile, her White Lotus character Jaclyn Lemon won't return for Season 4, which is now filming in France.

If you haven't caught up yet, both The Family Plan and The Family Plan 2 are streaming now on Apple TV+. For more on the franchise and other streaming hits, check out our coverage of shows dominating the charts.
