For fans of the supernatural mystery genre, few shows have captured the imagination quite like Manifest. The series, which originally aired on NBC, followed the passengers of Montego Air Flight 828 as they returned from a routine flight to find that five years had passed. Now, the universe is expanding with a new spin-off, Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery, and we have exciting updates about its production.
According to recent production listings, Arrivals is scheduled to begin filming in January 2027 in Vancouver, British Columbia. The shoot is expected to run from January 19th to June 9th, 2027. While the episode count hasn't been officially announced, each episode is expected to run around 60 minutes, promising a deep dive into the new mystery.
Meet the New Characters
The spin-off introduces a fresh cast of characters, each with their own intriguing backstory. Leading the charge is Zoe, a compassionate and courageous social worker who grew up in the foster system. Her journey will intertwine with Mike Deaver, a former Air Force helicopter pilot now working for the Department of Homeland Security. Together, they'll face an unprecedented challenge.
Other series regulars include Billy, Zoe's wealthy and charming ex-boyfriend; Sloane, a tough and resourceful character who lives with a pulmonary condition; and Wes and Selena, two individuals with a shared history. Wes has been living off the grid, raising a young boy named Joe, while Selena brings her own secrets to the table. The recurring cast features Director Gary Bolton, a by-the-book DHS official, and Francisco, a hardworking family man.
The Plot Thickens
The official logline for Arrivals teases a gripping storyline: "When a mysterious plane crash-lands in Denver, the passengers emerge with no memory of who they are, where they came from, or why they’re here. A young social worker and a novice Homeland Security agent team up with the new arrivals in an attempt to stop a humanity-ending catastrophe, discovering along the way that they are all part of the very puzzle they’re trying to solve."
This premise echoes the original series' blend of mystery and high stakes, but with a fresh twist that promises to keep viewers on the edge of their seats. The show is created by Jeff Rake, who also serves as executive producer and co-showrunner, alongside Margaret Easley and Laura Putney, both veterans of the original series.
The original Manifest premiered on NBC in 2018 and quickly gained a devoted fanbase. After three seasons, NBC cancelled the show in 2021, but Netflix swooped in to save it, and the series found new life on the streaming platform. The success of Manifest on Netflix paved the way for this spin-off, which was greenlit in August 2026.
As we await more details, fans can also check out other exciting Netflix offerings, such as the massive debut of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 or the unexpected success of Russell Crowe's Unabomber film. For those who love a good mystery, Netflix's The East Palace is a supernatural court thriller you won't want to miss.
Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery is currently in development at Netflix, with no release date announced yet. Stay tuned for more updates as production gets underway.
