The first day of school is a big milestone for any child—and an even bigger one for parents who aren't ready to let go. In Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, Mandy (Emily Osment) is clearly that parent. Three years after CeeCee's birth in Young Sheldon Season 6, the little one is heading off to preschool, and the Cooper-McCallister household is in for an emotional ride.

This Thursday's episode, titled "A Germ Factory and a Good Mother," follows Georgie (Montana Jordan) and Mandy as they navigate CeeCee's first day. But it's not just the young parents who are feeling the pinch. Audrey (Rachel Bay Jones) clashes with Mandy over letting "strangers" watch her granddaughter, while Jim (Will Sasso) tries to cheer up his wife as her babysitting days come to an end. Yet nobody takes it harder than Mandy when the moment finally arrives.

Poison Ivy Series in the Works from 'The Penguin' Showrunner
DC Studios is developing a Poison Ivy series with Lauren LeFranc, showrunner of The Penguin, executive producing. The project is in early stages, with no writer or lead attached yet.

In an exclusive sneak peek, we see Mandy trying to prep CeeCee for the big day by pointing out all the fun things in the classroom. But as soon as they're through the door, CeeCee is more than ready to run off and explore. Mandy pulls her aside for a heart-to-heart, telling her it's okay to feel scared or sad about such a big change. The irony? Mandy is the only one feeling that way. When she goes in for one last hug, CeeCee just wants to get going. And when the teacher asks if she's ready, Mandy comically yanks her daughter out—because she's absolutely not ready to say goodbye.

This moment is a perfect blend of humor and heart, something the show has become known for. It's a relatable parenting moment that will resonate with anyone who's ever watched their child take a big step forward while their own heart lags behind.

Still Going Strong in Season 3

Though Georgie and Mandy's marriage may be destined for trouble, their spin-off series is thriving. During CBS's premiere week, the sitcom ranked among the top ten shows across all of primetime broadcast television, drawing 5.5 million viewers. That made it the top-rated comedy of the night and marked a 14% increase from its Season 2 premiere. The Cooper and McCallister families clearly still have plenty of staying power.

With Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage continuing to perform well and the sci-fi comedy spin-off Stuart Fails to Save the Universe getting an early Season 2 renewal at HBO Max, the Big Bang Theory universe is expanding in exciting ways.
