Liam Neeson has been on a roll lately, from the comedic reboot of The Naked Gun to the sci-fi thriller Cold Storage alongside Joe Keery. But before all that, the Oscar-nominated actor starred in a psychological horror-thriller that time nearly forgot. Now, 17 years later, After.Life is getting a second chance on free streaming.
Directed by Agnieszka Wójtowicz-Vosloo, a Polish-American filmmaker Neeson once compared to Kathryn Bigelow, After.Life also stars Christina Ricci, known for her roles in Wednesday and Yellowjackets. Despite the talent involved, the film struggled to find an audience upon its 2009 release, earning a dismal 24% on Rotten Tomatoes and grossing only $2.4 million worldwide against a $4.5 million budget. In the U.S., it was overshadowed by blockbusters like Clash of the Titans and How to Train Your Dragon.
But starting July 1, 2026, After.Life will be available to stream for free on Plex, giving viewers a chance to rediscover this eerie tale of life, death, and the gray area in between. The film follows a young woman (Ricci) who wakes up on a mortician's slab, convinced she's still alive, while Neeson plays the enigmatic mortician who may hold the key to her fate.
For fans of Neeson's dramatic range, After.Life offers a glimpse of the actor before he became synonymous with action roles like Taken. It's a moody, atmospheric thriller that asks unsettling questions about consciousness and mortality.
