The Straw Hat Pirates are trading their swords and sandals for plastic bricks. Netflix has announced that the main cast of its live-action One Piece series will reprise their roles in an upcoming LEGO animated special, set to debut this fall. The two-part adventure, titled LEGO: One Piece, promises to deliver the same swashbuckling spirit with a playful, brick-built twist.
Collider can exclusively confirm that Iñaki Godoy (Luffy), Mackenyu (Zoro), Emily Rudd (Nami), Jacob Romero (Usopp), and Taz Skylar (Sanji) are all back to voice their characters in LEGO form. They'll be joined by Mikaela Hoover, who plays Tony Tony Chopper in Season 2, along with familiar faces like Katey Sagal as Dr. Kureha, Jeff Ward as Buggy, Charithra Chandran as Miss Wednesday (Vivi), and Callum Kerr as Marine Captain Smoker. The special will also feature a new image teasing Usopp's minifigure design, first seen in the Season 1 LEGO set, and a short video clip of a single brick from the Going Merry's next voyage.
What Is the LEGO One Piece Special About?
Designed as both an entry point for newcomers and a love letter to longtime fans, the special retells Luffy's journey from the East Blue to the Grand Line. It covers his recruitment of Zoro, Nami, Usopp, and Sanji, the battle against the Arlong Pirates, the dangerous entry into the Grand Line, and the clash with Baroque Works assassins. The story is framed through Usopp's unreliable narration as he brings Chopper up to speed on the crew's history, adding plenty of LEGO-style humor and heart.
The special is a collaboration between Netflix, LEGO Group, Shueisha, and Vancouver-based Atomic Cartoons, which previously animated LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy and LEGO Jurassic World: Legend of Isla Nublar. One Piece staff writer Tom Hyndman serves as showrunner, writer, and executive producer, joining Eiichiro Oda, LEGO executives Jill Wilfert, Keith Malone, and Lars Danielsen, and Tomorrow Studios' Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements. The project builds on the success of the live-action series, which earned a perfect 100% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes for its second season.
