Lauren Cohan, beloved by fans for her portrayal of Maggie Greene in The Walking Dead, is officially moving on to a new project. The actress has been cast as a series regular in Prime Video's upcoming horror thriller Stillwater, based on the Skybound graphic novel by Chip Zdarsky and Rámon K. Perez. This marks a significant shift for Cohan, who has been synonymous with the zombie apocalypse franchise for over a decade.
In Stillwater, Cohan will play Catherine 'Cat' Keegan, a former homecoming queen whose small-town charm has sharpened into something fiercer thanks to decades of old grudges and regrets. The series is set in the small town of Stillwater, where no one ages and no one escapes. Joining Cohan in the cast are Mark O'Brien and Mia Tomlinson, with more names expected to be announced soon.
While Cohan's departure from The Walking Dead universe isn't entirely confirmed—she recently starred in the spin-off The Walking Dead: Dead City alongside Jeffrey Dean Morgan, which wrapped its third season in mid-September—the future of that show beyond Season 3 remains uncertain. Even if Dead City doesn't continue, Cohan has a promising new home at Prime Video.
This isn't Cohan's first foray into Prime Video's offerings. She previously voiced War Woman in the animated series Invincible, though she hasn't returned to the role in recent seasons. Fans have also enjoyed her work in films like The Boy and Whiskey Cavalier. Now, with Stillwater, she's diving into a fresh horror narrative that promises to be both eerie and compelling.
Prime Video continues to expand its horror and thriller catalog. Currently, the platform's most-watched TV show is Carrie, based on Stephen King's novel, which recently topped the charts. Following closely are Season 4 of Reacher and its spin-off Neagley, both of which have been renewed for additional seasons. For those looking for more spooky content, Prime Video also offers a variety of horror films and series, including the recently added Van Helsing revival and classic '70s horror movies that have aged well.
As for Cohan, her fans are eager to see her take on a new challenge. With Stillwater, she's stepping into a world where time stands still and secrets run deep—a perfect fit for an actress who has mastered survival in the most dire circumstances. Stay tuned for more updates on the series as production moves forward.
