After more than two decades of pushing boundaries, Family Guy is finally sending Brian and Stewie to Hell—and they're bringing an Oscar winner along for the ride. The long-running animated comedy has announced that Kieran Culkin, fresh off his Succession fame and Academy Award win, will voice the Devil in the upcoming Halloween special, "Happy Hell-o-ween."
The news broke during the show's panel at San Diego Comic-Con, where executive producer and showrunner Rich Appel confirmed that both the Halloween and Christmas specials will return exclusively to Hulu later this year. The panel also revealed a first look at Culkin's character, the ruler of the underworld, who finds himself outmatched by the show's most chaotic duo.
Brian and Stewie Finally Pay the Price
In "Happy Hell-o-ween," Brian and Stewie (both voiced by Seth MacFarlane) end up in the actual underworld after "24 seasons' worth of bad behavior" catches up with them. But even in Hell, the pair can't help being themselves. They annoy the Devil so thoroughly that they somehow end up running the place, setting the stage for what promises to be one of the show's most outrageous Halloween stories yet.
Culkin's casting follows last year's guest star Glen Powell and gives the special a high-profile celebrity voice. The actor is also set to appear in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping as a young Caesar Flickerman, adding to his busy year. For fans of dark fantasy games or soulslike games, the special's hellish setting might feel familiar.
Christmas Chaos Continues
The holiday fun doesn't stop with Halloween. This year's Christmas special, "The Peter Clause," follows Peter Griffin (MacFarlane) as he competes with the guys to become Quahog's official Santa Claus. When Peter inevitably loses, he responds in typical Peter fashion—by creating another unforgettable holiday disaster instead of handling the situation like a mature adult.
Both specials will stream exclusively on Hulu in the United States and on Disney+ in most international markets. Meanwhile, Family Guy Season 25 is scheduled to return to Fox in 2027 before becoming available to stream on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ for subscribers in the United States.
