It's been seven years since we last visited Bird Island, but the flock is finally returning to the big screen. The Angry Birds Movie 3 has released its first trailer, and it's clear that Jason Sudeikis' Red has traded his hot-headed ways for a new role: full-time dad. The sequel, which moves from Sony to Paramount Pictures, picks up after the events of the second film, where Red and Silver (Rachel Bloom) got together. Now, they're parents to three kids—teenage daughter June, adventurous son Glider, and young hatchling Olly—and Red is learning that raising a family might be even harder than saving the world.
The trailer leans heavily into the chaos of parenthood, showing Red dodging danger with his youngest, trying too hard to be cool, and panicking over Glider's risky antics. It's a far cry from the angry outcast we met in 2016, but Sudeikis brings the same charm and humor that made the character a fan favorite. Of course, Red won't have to go it alone: Josh Gad's Chuck and Danny McBride's Bomb are back as babysitters, and Silver is by his side. The voice cast also includes Emma Myers, Walker Scobell, and Psalm West as the kids, plus returning Smosh stars Anthony Padilla and Ian Hecox as Hal and Bubbles.
Newcomers to the franchise include YouTube sensation MrBeast, social media star Salish Matter, and a roster of comedians and actors like Tim Robinson, Nikki Glaser, Sam Richardson, James Austin Johnson, Lily James, and Keke Palmer. The film is directed by John Rice, with original director Thurop Van Orman moving to the writers' room. The first two Angry Birds movies grossed over half a billion dollars worldwide, and with this star-studded lineup, the third installment aims to continue that success.
