Fox is making a bold move into the spy thriller arena with The Interrogator, a straight-to-series drama from British icon Stephen Fry that has just landed a major star from CBS's recently canceled FBI: International. The network is betting big on this project, which is being positioned as a worthy successor to Prime Video's acclaimed The Night Manager.
Luke Kleintank, who headlined FBI: International for three seasons as Special Agent Scott Forrester, has joined the cast of The Interrogator in a key role. He'll play Voss, a former Special Forces officer and Army whistleblower with a strong moral compass. The character is described as a quiet, outdoorsy Colorado farm boy who prefers dogs to people—except for a secret romance with fellow team member Florence that can't stay hidden forever.
What Is The Interrogator About?
The series centers on former MI6 agent Conrad Henry, played by Fry himself, and his elite team of analysts. When conventional interrogation methods fail, Henry's quirky charm, superior intellect, and mind-bending behavioral techniques make him the only person capable of unlocking the minds of the world's most dangerous criminals. It's a premise that echoes the psychological cat-and-mouse games of the best modern spy thrillers.
Fry wrote the pilot script, with revisions from Matt Pyken and William Harper, who also executive produce alongside Fry and Paul McGuigan. The 12-episode first season is slated for the 2026-27 season and is produced in collaboration with Lionsgate Television.
Stephen Fry's Return to Fox
This project marks a reunion for Fry with Fox, where he previously had a recurring role as psychiatrist Dr. Gordon Wyatt on the hit crime procedural Bones. While Fry is best known to American audiences for his Oscar-nominated performance as Oscar Wilde in 1997's Wilde and for narrating the entire Harry Potter audiobook series, The Interrogator represents his most ambitious television project to date.
Kleintank brings considerable experience to the role, having led FBI: International through its first three seasons. His character Voss is a member of Conrad Henry's small circle of analysts and advisors, bringing a strong moral code and military expertise to the team.
