Seattle's newest vampire coven is shaking up the undead genre on CBS's Eternally Yours, a series that blends centuries-old romance with fresh supernatural twists. The show follows Charles (Ed Weeks) and Liz (Allegra Edwards), a married couple who've spent 500 years together and are trying to rekindle their spark. But beyond the marital drama, the series is quietly building a rich mythology around vampire abilities—and one character's powers are still a mystery.
At New York Comic Con, the cast sat down with Collider to discuss the show's unique take on vampire lore. Unlike many vampire stories where every bloodsucker shares the same toolkit, Eternally Yours gives each vampire its own distinct set of skills. For instance, Jesse (Parker Young) is the only member of the coven who can wipe human memories—a handy trick when your wife Phyllis (Rose Abdoo) is human and your kids are half-vampire.
Jaren Lewison, who plays Max, one of those half-vampire children, is particularly excited about exploring his character's potential. In an exclusive chat, Lewison revealed that Max's powers are still emerging, and even he doesn't know what they'll ultimately be. "I'm just honestly interested in what powers Max is going to have," he said. "We do see that in our show, vampires have different powers. Not everyone has the same powers. Some of them have special powers, like Jesse is the only one that can do the mind wipe."
Lewison hinted that while some abilities are universal—like telepathy, short bursts of super speed, and super strength—there's room for surprises. "I don't know what powers Max has yet and he's a baby vampire. They're coming in as we speak," he added. "So there's a lot that we're going to end up learning."
This approach to vampire powers isn't entirely new—fans of the genre have seen variations in everything from Blade to Twilight, where day-walking and other unique traits set characters apart. But Eternally Yours seems to be leaning into the idea that each vampire's abilities are as individual as their personality, which could lead to some thrilling reveals down the line.
For now, viewers can watch Max's journey unfold as he navigates his hybrid nature and discovers what makes him special. The show airs Thursdays on CBS, and with Lewison's tease, fans have plenty to speculate about. Will Max develop a power no one else has? Or will he surprise everyone with a twist on the standard vampire arsenal? Only time—and future episodes—will tell.
