Nearly two decades after Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging charmed audiences, star Eleanor Tomlinson is ready to revisit the beloved cult classic. In a recent interview, the actress—best known for her role in Poldark—expressed her hope for a sequel, saying, “It was really, really special. I hope they do a sequel and see us all now as old, haggard people – that would be brilliant.”
The 2008 film, directed by Gurinder Chadha (Bend It Like Beckham), was a defining teen comedy for a generation of British viewers. It launched the career of Aaron Taylor-Johnson (then credited as Aaron Taylor), who played the heartthrob Robbie. The movie also featured Georgia Groome as the protagonist, Georgia, and a young Tomlinson as her friend Jas.
Tomlinson and Taylor-Johnson go way back—they first worked together on The Illusionist. She recalled, “Aaron was actually my first ever kiss – which was on screen, I hasten to add – which was so sweet. I just remember being absolutely terrified.” Despite their early on-screen chemistry, the two are no longer in touch, but Tomlinson remains fond of the experience.
Since his breakout, Taylor-Johnson has become a major Hollywood star, appearing in films like Nocturnal Animals, Bullet Train, and Christopher Nolan's Tenet. He recently joined the cast of Robert Eggers' Nosferatu and is set to reunite with Eggers for Werwulf, scheduled for Christmas 2026. That film will face stiff competition from Dune: Part Three and Avengers: Doomsday.
Fans have long clamored for a sequel to Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging, and Tomlinson's comments have reignited hope. While no official plans have been announced, the actress's enthusiasm suggests the door is open. For now, audiences can revisit the original on streaming platforms or check out other nostalgic teen comedies.
